1. There is no indignity to showing the caskets of the deceased--in fact, it allows |
|
people the opportunity to honor them, with a thought or a prayer or a moment of somber reflection. I can't see why this was ever a policy, to hide our war dead, except for propaganda purposes (what war dead? everything's going fine...)

3. Yes, it was DEFINITELY hidden so we wouldn't see the REAL cost of the war... |
|
I'm glad Obama is strong enough to let them be seen even though deaths will most likely spike when more of our troops are sent into Afghanistan.

7. I hope they have a really awsome ceremony when they show them. |
|
That's the only chance most of us have to honor them or say a prayer for their families or light a candle for them. Or even just to be grateful to them as individuals rather than numbers. Hearing about 4 people being killed just glosses over them as individuals who deserve our respect and honor.
I hope their families can be there to greet their loved ones' coffins when they arrive because we also need to be reminded that there are mothers and fathers, husbands and wives, and children who are directly affected by the loss and who have themselves made huge sacrifices for our country.
Now I made myself tear up.
