Obama plan brings cries of class warfare.. by GOP

The budget outline includes activist initiatives on energy, health care, education and climate change.

It would boost taxes on the wealthy, oil companies and other businesses while cutting Medicare and Medicaid payments to insurance companies and hospitals to make way for a $634 billion down payment on universal health care. It would also limit charitable and other tax deductions for the affluent and trim spending on government subsidies to big farms.

Predictably, Republicans complained, much as they had done during last year's presidential campaign, that Obama was pitting the haves against the have-nots.

2. Absolutely ... but we weren't allowed to CALL it that ...
It was just "supply-side economics" and "rewarding the
entrepreneur." B.S.!!! It was reverse-Robin Hood ...
sheer THEFT.

6. I just felt so sorry today for the lady on Rush
Edited on Thu Feb-26-09 07:39 PM by Gman
who's husband, a heart surgeon (according to her, "one of the leading heart surgeons in the country"), only made $450K a year. It was just terrible. They "were blessed" that they could have a special needs child in a private school. But they couldn't afford to have all their kids in private schools. They gave $35,000 last year to charity but they will definitely have to cut back now because of Obama's tax plan. Her husband, who "missed 90% of the basketball games" for his kids because he works 80 hours a week is just "devastated" over Obama's tax plan and says he'll just have to cut back his hours. The lady is scared to death that Obama is going to come and take all their money and they just don't know what to do.

I was just astounded to listen to this poor woman's sorry story. She was serious too. She didn't say what she does probably because she's a gold digger that saw her meal ticket when she met her husband.

9. an additional $6,000.00 is what they will pay under obama's plan
assuming 450k is their taxable income. that's about 1% of their taxable income.

trickle down doesn't work. how on earth can republicans continue to support failed policies while we are in the midst of a huge financial disaster...created by their stupid policies. they keep proving to most americans why their party is totally irrelevant.

11. Wolf Blitzer even referenced Robin Hood
Now, there has been a real transfer of wealth over 2 decades from the lower and middle class to the very rich. I never heard CNN complain about that.

12. Only 48% of The 2 Percenters are the class that we are fighting.....
and so if this is war, they are badly outnumbered!

Too bad they own the GOP party, the Media and have enough ignoramuses following them.

They need to "pipe down" about it and stop reminding the growing number of "have nots" what they "have".

14. Yes. According to Freepers/Repubs it's not class warfare or socialist when you take from the poor
or middle class and give to the rich.

25. As long a the echo chamber remains firmly in place- and deregulated
This is what Americans can expect (and what a good many deserve).

Why so many Democrats are afraid of taking the steps to ensure that America has a responsibl media- where a full and fair debate is the norm on the public airwaves- rather than the exception- this is the sort of bile they can expect to hear 24/7.

And don't think people out there (tens- even a hundred million of them) don't buy staight into it.
