There is something very interesting going on that is not only separating intellect, but ways of thinking about problems. From reading/listening to Obama's and his people's speeches as he goes about solving problems, he is clearly playing 3D Star Trek chess - putting forth elements that make up improvement of a big picture, since all of our problems are interconnected and can't be solved independently.

Authoritarians - conservative - from what I've seen are not good at this global thinking, which takes ability to see the gray areas in between. The media has this issue as well - solving a huge interconnected problem like this does not translate well into sound bites that can be meme'd on the nightly news. Intellectually, the media and the GOP are having their lunch stolen. They truly are trying to beat Obama at checkers, while he is in a very, very different, more complex game...only it is not a game. It is our future.

Too bad that those who are being so ridiculous will be helped by default as these problems get solved. They don't deserve it.

1. This is going on in many places in America right now.
Re: "deserve"; that's above my pay-grade.

Truth is, by definition, inevitable, so we will see who "deserves" what.

3. Anderson Cooper has been a prime example of playing checkers
I gave him a little more credit because his reporting has covered important global issues. I thought he had a broader perspective/mindset. He's been coming across as a little petty and not having a good handle on the issues.
