Michelle Obama Official Portrait Released (PHOTO)
The White House has released the official portrait of First Lady Michelle Obama. It was taken in the Blue Room of the White House. Obama wears a sleeveless dress, which has become something of a signature style.

4. Very nice pic,
but what's with so many sleevless dresses in the middle of winter? She does have well toned arms and I'm sure she's proud of them, but it's not the season for sleeveless dresses.

;)

9. I love it!
When one is indoor, it doesn't really matter about wearing sleeves or not.

The point is that not everyone can go sleeveless, and if she wants to, she should.

For a time, the beauty standard pushed big breasts, and belly buttons.
Then it was big lips (fake or not).....
I find it refreshing if the new standard will be represented by well toned arms and legs,
as this is a goal that any woman can achieve if they try.

30. And it appears that the time and place is not mandated in a book....
and so folks will differ.

Far as I'm concerned, we've got much bigger things to worry about
beyond sleeveless dresses in the winter.

Of course, I haven't had arms like that since I was 23.

I really like that
She looks very nice in classic clothes. She manages to make them look chic and athletic at the same time. I like having a buff First Lady. I still remember how anorectic Nancy Reagan looked - horrible, and a terrible example.

Edited on Sun Mar-01-09 01:05 AM by Kat45
DC may not be New England but it's also not warm yet. I'm wearing at least three layers with a down vest in the house (and a down jacket outside) and I'm freezing my butt off. I swear, I get cold just looking at a picture of her in a sleeveless dress.

34. I love yellow and many shades of yellow--but not that one.
I love the sunny brightness of yellow, but the shade of that outfit seems dingy to me. I do love the brooch she put at the neckline, though, and though many hated her gloves, I loved them.

39. I didn't like it either
and I thought the gloves didn't match! It's superficial, I know, but I couldn't get past it. I know they are meant to be a contrasting color, I just thought they jarred with the outfit.

But I love the official photo.

52. Yep.....She is....this June!
Isn't that something?

She's up at U of Washington at St. Louis this week till Tuesday,
interviewing for a Master/Phd Program spot.

They flew her out, picked her up from the airport and
put her up at the Sheradan....so it appears that they
are truly interested in her.

I'll let you know.

But yeah...the time flew!

32. She is beautiful, as always.
But I do think it is strange that she seems to want to be "defined" by the media as the first sleeveless first lady. IMHO, it would be preferable to not encourage oneself to be defined by something so small and insignificant. I hope she soon starts defining herself in much more substantive ways. And, I am sure she will! :)
