Conservatives have CPAC, what do progressives have?
Well there is the conservative political action conference (CPAC) for all the douche bags of the right wing. But do we liberals have anything like that? a Progressive political action conference or something like that?

Edited on Sat Feb-28-09 01:39 AM by Clio the Leo
.... like I obviously didn't "our" not "are" ..... this is why I shouldn't type and listen to the CPAC thingy at the same time, dumbs me down.

9. Lol DU is great but...........
it's not like an actual conference, I don't think we have an annual meeting where liberals and elected democrats come to speak in front of a group.

Edited on Sat Feb-28-09 02:09 AM by Clio the Leo
As a matter of fact Joe the Liberal ..... you're due at Barnes and Noble for a book signing ... dont keep those 12 people waiting! :)

In all seriousness .... we have that .... a forum where liberals and elected democrats speak in front of a group.

It's called "Congress."

Here's one of liberal big-wigs speaking at our annual meeting .... held three days ago as a matter of fact. (And since we're the Democrats and we're nice, we let conservatives come too.)

(Ok, I'll behave and stop messing w/you now. hee hee)

2. Center for American Progress is a good think tank, Moveon.org has been a good PAC
I consider moveon to be pretty progressive. And Center for American Progress is extremely progressive on income inequality and poverty matters.

8. Yea but.........
I'm talking about a political action conference where they have well known liberals/democrats attend and speak, do we have one of those? Exactly like CPAC except for liberals.

22. The ADA usually has a big national rally
But, we have no big tent rallies such as the CPAC get together. Why not. It's been said liberals are too fragmented. Maybe , we've gotten the Reagan attacks on our loyalty get under our skin.. Don't let them do that..
A good start. Get a bumper sticker.. "Liberal and Proud."

The real question is would our version ever get coverage by the supposedly "liberal" MSM?

I doubt it.

10. Not right now,
but it looks we may getting one now with these Accountability Now people. You know it can be a pain in the ass dealing with the DLC/Blue Dog members, having a party that runs from the center right to the far left can very unwieldy, but we see right now with the GOP what happens when you run too many moderates out of the party.

11. I'm glad we DON'T! It sure looks to me like that group are all the
nutballs of the Pub Party! I admit the Dems have a few nutballs too, but damn, I sure don't ever want to see them all in the same room! Besides, I don't think we have enough of them to even partially fill a small room.

13. Not to mention the fact that the only reason why a group would need to form something like that....
.... is if they otherwise had no actual power. It's a special interest group ... formed to make sure their voice is heard and not drowned out by .... all the sane folk.

27. Did anything good come out of CPAC?
Edited on Sat Feb-28-09 08:58 AM by AllentownJake
All the video from there was embarrassing to them. It was nothing but hate and bile directed at the people who disagree with them. No new ideas came out of the conference.

Their "rising star" was a 13 year old boy who repeats what he hears on Hannity and Rush.

I don't really want to have our own CPAC.

31. We really can't have a CPAC in the sense they do
our tent is so much bigger, the range of opinion so much broader, and most of us encourage and applaud serious thinking and in-depth analysis of the issues.

CPAC is nothing more than a vehicle for the right wing to celebrate lockstep thinking, to reinforce their bigotry and class warfare, and serve as the purity patrol for greedy, hate-filled bastards.
