I agree with Bill Maher about how disrespectful members of Congress |
|
like Claire McCaskill were to "twitter" while Obama was speaking.
How rude! I can see the Republicans doing this but our own? How would they like it if when they speak at a gathering their audience would twitter or teeter or clip their nails or pick their noses?

3. Yes, she did, and was very proud of this |
|
I wouldn't have known, otherwise, but McCaskill actually gloated about it.

4. Maher isn't worthy to clean Claire's cats litter box..... |
|
.... he can shut it. The woman was one of the President's most ardent supporters during the campaign and as far as I am concerned can twitter wherever she feels a tweet urge coming on.

I was going to post this myself, when I heard how she gloated about twitterig during the speech.
To use your phrase - she isn't worthy to clean the President's litter box (or his new dog's poop).
When the President addresses the nation, she should listen. Respectfully. Otherwise she does not belong in the Senate. Certainly not as a Democratic senator.

6. What about live blogging? |
|
Edited on Sat Feb-28-09 02:46 AM by sandnsea
Is it disrespectful to live blog during various speeches and events?
On edit:
Oh, and is it disrespectful for the press to take notes?

7. no because their jobs are to do those things |

Her job was to listen to the man. When I get observed by an AP he or she takes notes etc. I expect my students to be working math problems, listening, etc.

14. Her job is to serve her constituents |
|
and if she felt a good way to serve them is through Twitter, well then that's fine. DU is being just as stupid over Twitter as the media gets over bloggers. A Republican twitters and suddenly the entirety of the platform is called Republican, even though there were a cazillion people signed up to receive Obama campaign twitters. Just stupid.

20. Depends who is doing the blogging. If a reporter |
|
than this is his/her job to report either via blogging or by taking notes.
They are there to do the job of reporting, not to be addressed by the President. Members of Congress, as well as the Supreme Court and other dignitaries were invited there to listen to the President. If she thinks that twitting is more important than listening then she should have stayed home... in Missouri.
I hope that Obama never invites here to the White House or to any other gathering of friends.

15. For the record, Claire McCaskill has said she twittered before and after |
|
Pres Obama's speech...she wrote that her mother questioned her twittering during the speech and she told her the same thing..she did NOT twitter during the speech.

17. I totally agree. Rude. What are they 12? |
|
There's plenty of time for Twittering before and after. It's like kids texting during class. Unacceptable.
McCaskill said she only Twittered (tweeted?) before an after, but that's not true based on the time of at least one of her tweets about Arlen Specter standing alone to applaud. Tacky.

What would be next? Twitting about Loretta Sanchez doing a Michele Bachmann in groping the President? Commenting on Diane Feinstein's "do?"
