2. Who the fuck was second?
It's like the third or fourth time Romney has won this poll. It's great theater. The supply siders love Romney, but too many of the fundies still consider Mormonism a cult. It's a real problem over there in Freeperland I tell 'ya!

20. those are all good news for us. GOP moneybags would never tolerate Paul as nominee and Obama would
mop the floor with the rest of that pack.

Romney still looks like the guy who fired you.

Jindal is a goofball, liar, and exorcist.

Palin would be wiped out in a general election.

And Newt is still Newt, a dick that probably even most republicans secretly loathe. But he would get his own vote (if not any of his ex-wives' votes).

came into the co-op yesterday with a vintage "Ike" button on and a "ron paul for president".. I didn't engage him in conversation, I just said I was happy with what we got.

It will be interesting to see who can go the distance in the gop for the 2012 election against Obama.

38. *LAUGH*
I see the birthers claims may come back to bite them on the ass. (Obama Crimes is Philip Berg's nuthouse, BTW).

You see, they're all claiming that a "Natural Born Citizen" means BOTH parents US citizens, and preferably born in the US, (some birthers will give an exemption for military children, others won't)

That's why some of the nutballs claim Obama is a citizen, or a "native-born" citizen, but not a "natural-born" citizen, because his father was not a US citizen. (they usually cite de Vattel's "Law of Nations" as proof, though since de Vattel isn't referenced in the US Constitution, it's kinda hard to understand why they think that's what the Constitution is REALLY referring to).

So now you have the up-and-coming GOP star Piyush "Bobby" Jindal. Not only are BOTH parents not US citizens at the time of his birth, but his mother, BY HIS OWN ADMISSION, was four and a half months pregnant with him when she arrived. To the birthers, he's a "native-born" but not "natural-born" and therefore cannot be President. (To the immigration nuts, he's worse, he's an "anchor baby")

45. That is exactly right.
There is no way in hell they will accept him. That is why he has won the straw poll a few times and then he gets beaten down. They just don't want to admit the true reasoning behind it. Mormons are not true Christians according to the religious right that is such an important part of the Republican Party.

And he'll be running for the Senate in 2010 so I don't think he'd go back to back. Nor do I think he has any interest in challenging Obama as he actually agrees with him on most issues.

What do u mean? I'm a Democrat. i'm trying to say that Freepers are getting excited over a poll that does not accurately predict victory. I think all of those are going to be defeated by Obama.

McCain is too old and a loser now. He's out of the question. Heck, he was too old in 2008 lol.

48. Romney was their best chance in 2008, but the far righters, who were still in control
at that time, would have none of Romney because of his history of vagueness on abortion. Bwahahahahahaha!

So they ended up with "Greetings, fellow prisoners" McCain. THEY think McCain lost because he was a supposed moderate. They say, "See? We need to get back to our strict conservative roots!"

But the far righters are talking about far right wingnut SOCIAL issues. The rest of the pubics are talking about FISCAL conservative issues. The latter likes Romney (who MIGHT have edged out Obama in '08 because of the economy), and the wingnut religious wackos like Palin.

Our dream ticket: Jindal/Palin, or vice versa. But the pubics will NEVER put two minorities on the same ticket.

42. The FReaks are too dim to realize that straw polls don't mean jack.
Victory in them is easy to engineer for someone who's willing to spend the money. Hell, Phil "the Turtle" Gramm bought a huge string of straw poll victories before the 1996 GOP presidential primaries, and got nowhere in the primaries themselves. Romney could get the nomination -- don't get me wrong -- but a straw poll doesn't mean squat. It is just a crappy advertising gimmick for the group that puts on an event, and pols who spend their money to engineer a victory there are deluded.

Romney still hasn’t learned after blowing 40 million of his own money in 2008.

Romney is marginally more palatable to me than McQueeg was. However he’ll lose just as many or more votes than McCain for other reasons.
