(the far, far left, to whom none of the rest of us are EVER left enough -- the ones who are so far left they keep meeting the far right coming around the bend, in fact)(I see you madflo)... will probably never reverse themselves, because they live for that sort of bullshit.
I admit, I've had a few twinges, myself. Sharp ones. If you're anything like me, you probably have, too; news of the Obama Administration's decision to continue Bush Administration policy at the Bagram detention centre hit me like a punch in the gut -- not unlike, I suspect, a punch in the gut a prisoner at that centre might receive as part of a daily routine. News, in fact, of any Obama Administration decision to continue any Bush Administration policy will tend to hit me that way. Especially, however, when the policy has to do with pesky things like civil rights, human rights, war crimes...
But after perusing this budget stuff for a couple of days now, I have to say this: Obama is probably the most liberal President we've had since Roosevelt himself -- wars and human rights notwithstanding. (Yeah. I know. I'm withholding judgement -- for now. And it sucks. I want it ALL, right now. But let us PLEASE all bear in mind that this Administration is not yet two months old.)
