As you faithful readers know, we reported here the other day that the conservative Family Research Council was threatening a new form of bureaucratic retribution against GOP Senators who failed to vote against key picks for the Obama Justice Department that the group found intolerable.
But it doesn’t look like it’s working: Today the Senate voted to confirm two of them, both by lopsided majorities.
Among the Obama Justice picks being targeted by the Family Research Council and others on the right: Associate Attorney General Thomas Perrelli, Solicitor General Elena Kagan, and Deputy Attorney General David Ogden.
Ogden has angered the right for his work representing Playboy. Perrelli represented Michael Schiavo. And Kagan opposed a measure letting military recruiters on campus.
Well, today the Senate voted to confirm Ogden, 62-28. And it voted for Perrelli by a bigger margin, 72-20. Kagan still seems to be held up a bit, but Dems expect her to sail through without a problem.
