Obama Offers Chip Reid Condolences

The last question directed towards President Obama, at his press conference in London today, came from Chip Reid, CBS’s News Chief White House Correspondent. When President Obama called on Reid he first offered him his condolences for the tragedy saying “Chip, my heart goes out to you.” Reid responded “Thank you. Thank you very much, Mr. President. I appreciate that.”

Then he asked the president, to what degree he had encountered the perception at the G20 summit that America is to blame for the global economic crisis.

CBS News reports that the reason, President Obama, displayed sympathy for the correspondent is, Reid’s father died soon after he had landed in London to cover the president’s trip to Europe.

Reid addressed his CBS News colleagues today about his father’s death.

“My father was my hero and I’m here to make him proud.”

4. oh man, that outdoes even the MSNBC crawl
Yesterday they referred to 'Pope Benefit' in a sentence in which it appeared that J2P2 had died a few days ago.

5. Obama has a human side. Chip Reid can be a real jerk sometimes
but he took time to note the man's loss. We have a good President and I am sorry for Reid's loss.

6. This is a sad occasion, but not a "tragedy". "Tragedy" is Binghamton, NY.
