Boehner (Dick - Party of "NO") on unemployment #s - calls for bipartisanship, end of "arrogance"

Boehner responds to Friday's unemployment numbers

WASHINGTON (CNN) — The quickest reaction to this morning's unemployment report apparently goes to House Minority Leader John Boehner.

His office sent out a statement of Boehner's reaction to the April jobs report just six minutes after the Labor Department announced the news, which shows that the nation's unemployment level jumped to 8.9 percent.

"About two and a half million jobs have been lost since the beginning of the year, yet some here in Washington continue to believe that we can borrow and spend our way back to prosperity. Rather than working across the aisle on plans to create more jobs, rebuild Americans' savings, and reinvigorate the housing market, the spending, taxing, and borrowing binge that the Administration and Congress have set out on in the first four months of this year isn't helping our economy."

Washington's arrogance must be replaced by a new spirit of bipartisan cooperation to improve job prospects for millions of Americans. Republicans have taken every opportunity to reach out to the President and find areas of agreement. We offered a stimulus bill that created twice the jobs at half the price as the Democrats' bill. Our budget alternative curbed spending, created jobs by cutting taxes, and controlled the debt. And we've proposed legislation to help Americans' rebuild their nest eggs and college savings for their children. Unfortunately, the Democrats in control of Congress have chosen a go-it-alone approach. It's time for the President and the Democratic leadership in Congress to reverse course and embrace this opportunity for real bipartisan action to help put more Americans back to work."

3. Show me the jobs created by Boehner and Bush in the last 8 years.

All I remember was that this administration spent the country into debt like a bunch of drunken sailors.

So when it comes to binges, lets look at the record for the last 8 years and and make our judgment on this "alone". Just as we would judge a job applicant for a position by looking at their past performance, so to should we look into the past to determine how to move forward in the right direction.

That will never happen though.

Repukes talking about jobs is laughable. In 2001 they said the tax cuts would create millions of jobs. In 2008 it was still tax cuts. Now in 2009 there are no other ideas to speak of, and they just whine because they're being rightfully ignored.

Drill baby drill is more than an energy policy for them, it's their economic policy as well.

10. problem here appears to be the republican's definition of bipartisanship.

because for eight years their idea of bipartisanship has been the dems can either vote with them or not. i think the republicans ought to think long and hard about what they stand for and where they plan on being in a few years.
