I don't think that they've thought this whole thing through (unsurprisingly). After all, how can the Republicans implicate her in knowing about ILLEGAL activities without acknowledging that what the Bush (mis-)administration was (apparently) already doing and telling Pelosi about was ILLEGAL? That's also assuming, of course, they would even openly disclose their involvement in ILLEGAL activities to a particularly despised "San Francisco Liberal" like Pelosi.

In '93, '94, the Republicans took dissatisfaction with Clinton and ran with it, making big gains in '94.

They'd like to do that with Obama, but they can't, he's untouchable.

So they're trying to do it with Pelosi, because nobody likes Pelosi. But then again, I don't think many people really care either.
