I was starting to think half of DU was eating the talking points of the Freepers by how many times everyhing O does is equated to a bout of cowardice. I was like, this is a GOP talking point they willingly accept. Glad to see there are people out there realizing he's got a tough job and unlike the fool we had for 8 years he's doing the best he can. I may not like, we might not all like it, but all in all he is sincere about his care for America and the American people if nothing else.

What else would you call it when a guy supports gay marriage and single payer before he becomes president, then changes his mind when he wins?

I want Obama to succeed, and I admit his social and interpersonal skills are amazing. But he constantly backtracks. I wouldn't be surprised if he is deep down inside an atheist who just pretends to be a Christian. Obama is very progressive, has an advanced education and seems to want to examine issues in depth and from every angle, which is generally (no offense to believers) not conductive to faith. Faith tends to come from not examining contradictry opinions in depth, which is something Obama doesn't do. When you read about contradictory issues like Horus, evolution, contradictory faiths or negative values in religious texts it is harder to believe. Even his public displays of faith may be an act, I really don't know.

Again, I wouldn't be surprised if deep down inside Obama supports gay marriage, single payer, pot legalization, Bush prosecutions, ending DADT and is an agnostic/atheist to boot. But now that he is president he opposes gay marriage, single payer, pot legalization, prosecutions, ending DADT and is a firm believer in a higher power.

So Obama is timid in my book.
