Just got an email from Vice President Biden about Specter
Edited on Thu May-21-09 08:38 AM by AllentownJake
Talking about all of Arlen's wonderful achievements and linking to Barackobama.com

Not saying I agree with it, but anyone who thinks there will be a Primary in PA next year is delusional.

1. Joe Sestak wants to be that kind of delusional, but Penn Dems have to rally behind him.
Specter's pretty popular among the Dems in the "Alabama" middle third of Pennsylvania. It would be a very close race.

2. Specter has solid support in Philadelphia

Biden would be sent up to Allentown/Scranton area.

No one in the party who holds a position will dare cross Specter because crossing Specter is crossing Rendell and Obama.

This one is over before it started.

3. All Arlen's got to do is find the face saving way
to flip flop his position on EFCA and he will be untouchable. He knows it and he's already trying to do that.

5. It'll happen.
And he'll look like a hero for saving it, too, even if he was the cause for its prematurely declared demise in the first place.

4. FWIW, Specter has shown some signs of being more liberal since crossing over.
Which is not to say that we wouldn't be better off without a progressive or a primary (I'd prefer both, personally).

6. At least he defended Pelosi.
Now he needs to support the Employee Free Choice Act.
