By raising your profile and taking on the President on torture issues you are 'politicizing' your role making any prosecution more difficult.

That is clever thinking.

You are also forcing out Powell and the entire moderate wing of the Republican Party.


Your strategy makes it more difficult to send you to jail but you are taking the Republican Party into oblivion.


I hope that you fail in the former and are succesful in the later.

3. By raising his profile he is building a defense that any prosecution of him

is based on his high profile dispute with the President. It will make it look like a political prosecution and not a criminal one.



At the same time he is taking over leadership of the Republican Party and he is driving moderates and young people away from it.



I hope that he fails and is prosecuted, but that the side efforts of making the Republican Party less attractive is successful.
