Does anyone know Sotomayor's position on abortion rights?
I can't find anything about it. Only two cases did I find that she was involved in the issue, and both were dismissed for lack of standing.

1. To get the fastest response: ask a republican.

2. I think I read that she hasn't ruled on any big abortion rights cases.
NOW just issued a strong statement in support, for whatever that's worth.

3. That's really not something to which one would obtain a direct answer

One can easily have a judge which applies Roe or Casey etc. to any relevant cases which come before that judge, since judges are to apply relevant controlling precedent. Whether that judge would overturn those given the opportunity to do so on the Supreme Court cannot be predicted on the basis of whether the judge has properly applied SC authority in the past. The best one can do is look to extremely indirect support for the foundations behind those decisions.

4. Because she is in the 2nd circuit, abortion never comes up

Abortion cases occur in states that try to enact laws restricting abortion. Those laws are challenged in the federal district court and appealed to the appeals (or circuit) court for the circuit that includes that state.

None of the states in the 2nd circuit -- Sotomayor's circuit -- have tried to limit abortions, so the issue never comes up.
