1. Are you talking about Undergrad or
Law School? Obama Graduated Summa from Columbia and Magna from Harvard Law.

Some of the white fellas just don't take to the new standards being color and gender blind. They think it must be a rigged game if the white guys don't always end up on top.

Though reforms put in place by Dean Kagan are going to make my alma mater much more like Yale: Considerably smaller class sizes in the first year and the eventual move to pass/fail grading over the next couple of years, both of which Yale has had for decades.

Nonetheless, Magna at HLS back in BHO's day was a stunning achievement. Summas at HLS have been so rare that they get written up in the alumni magazine and 10-20 years could pass without the honor being awarded as it required an A+ average calculated over all three years.

At the U of MN, I managed summa cum laude as an undergrad with a mere 3.944/4.00.:smoke: I did make the top half of my class at HLS though.

And as to which is better, it's pretty much a Ferrari or Lamborghini choice. Personal taste, but ya can't go wrong with either

10. No psychologist would measure intelligence by academic achievement alone
There are many forms of intelligence.
IQ is in fact not measured by what kind of degree a person holds.

15. I was going to make the same point.
I went to school with some absolutely brilliant people (140+ IQ required for application) who would giggle at the thought of measuring themselves, or others, by something so trivial and subjective.

Not that we didn't give them props, but the admiration was more for their work ethic and ability to play politics, not their intelligence (/g/).

Both a strong work ethic and political ability are good things to have in a POTUS and on the SCOTUS, and in some perspectives, more important than a high level of intelligence.

17. the president said "laude laude" tonight in LA
from politico's white board: http://www.politico.com/politico44/wbarchive/whiteboard05282009.html

Again praised Sotomayor. Said she was Summa Cum Laude, "not just magna or laude laude, but summa cum laude."

graduated from Yale or Harvard and the wall street criminals that have graduated from the same, I'd say BOTH universities have failed miserably.

If someone throws trillions of dollars that they don't have at a multitude of problems, how can that person be called smart, smarter or smartest? Just wondering.......
