Obama: We were hacked!
The Obama campaign's website was repeatedly hacked during the 2008 campaign, the President revealed today.

In remarks announcing a new cyber security czar, Obama said that between August and October of last year hackers accessed emails, policy papers and other campaign documents.

Fundraising information was never compromised, Obama said, and the campaign worked closely with the FBI and Secret Service to re-secure the website and prevent a future cyber attack.

"It was a powerful reminder: In this Information Age, one of your greatest strengths–in our case, our ability to communicate to a wide range of supporters through the Internet–could also be one of your greatest vulnerabilities," Obama said.

The White House is creating a new office for cyber security that will work to strengthen the nation's communication network from potential attacks.

"Just as we do for natural disasters, we have to have plans and resources in place beforehand," Obama said of a potential cyber attack.

1. It's a bipartisan problem. Remember all the problems the Bush White House had from too many hacks.

2. I'm sure it happened to McCain also. The DNC and RNC are targets for everything from viruses....
to hacking. Regularly.

It's really annoying if you correspond with anyone with either of those e-mail addresses.

4. As a fellow with a 35-year career mostly in IT/MIS and internal audit ...
... I find it amusing that ANYONE thinks a computer system with ANY connections to the "outside world" can't be hacked. The idea that any such system can be 100% secure is sheer ignorance.

You just need to be vigilant. A combination of secure products and regular pen testing, along with security policies can make a connection to the Internet entirely safe.

(Full disclosure: I work for an information security company)

8. Crybaby Beck, Pigboy and the Manatee do commericials for this on their radio shows
They read the script, giving the added impression that they endorse these products personally.

Just goes to show how much they care about their listeners.

It's only about how much they can line their pockets.
