Repug criticizes Obamas for going to a Broadway play.
Good grief! Now the Obamas have to stay home having peanut butter and jelly?? Hey Repugs: The Obamas aren't the G.W. Bushes, ya know ... they are actually INTERESTED in the outside world ... and the arts!

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2009/05/30/soccer-dad-in-chief/#more-54062

... The first couple, known for having weekend date nights, later made a visit Saturday night to New York City for what the White House is calling a personal visit. The New York Times reports that the Obamas are seeing the Broadway show, “Joe Turner’s Come and Gone.”

According to a White House spokesperson, Obama said he was taking his wife to the Big Apple "because I promised her during the campaign that I would take her to a Broadway show after it was all finished."

RNC spokeswoman Gail Gitcho, in a statement to reporters Saturday, blasted the couple's visit.

"As President Obama prepares to wing into Manhattan’s theater district on Air Force One to take in a Broadway show, GM is preparing to file bankruptcy and families across America continue to struggle to pay their bills," she said. "Have a great Saturday evening – even if you’re not jetting off somewhere at taxpayer expense."

2. Funny...
you never once heard these idiots complain about the fact that GWB and Reagan went on vacation more often than any other two Presidents in history. And, might I add, the 80's weren't exactly an economic boom for this country and yet Ronnie went on vacation constantly out to California...wonder how much of a drain on taxpayer dollars that was, flying from one coast of the country to the other????

17. It's not just GWB, but also Reagan...
Reagan spent more time on vacation than any POTUS before GWB. GWB managed to top him, but it's pretty shameless of these hacks to whine about Obama allegedly wasting tax dollars when Reagan constantly wasted tax dollars on trips from D.C. to California -- coast to fucking coast! And GWB constantly wasted tax dollars on trips to Texas, which ain't exactly close to D.C. either!

9. Forget B*sh-- remember congress whined about a 5 day work week?
It was after the 2006 elections. I remember Jack Kingston actually saying he might have to quite congress because he needed time with his family. If I recall correctly most of these nitwits were worked 3 MAYBE 4 days a week, using Mondays and thursdays as travel days--- ON THE TAXPAYER DOLE.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/12/05/AR2006120501342.html

"I have bad news for you," Hoyer told reporters. "Those trips you had planned in January, forget 'em. We will be working almost every day in January, starting with the 4th."

The reporters groaned. "I know, it's awful, isn't it?" Hoyer empathized.

For lawmakers, it is awful, compared with what they have come to expect. For much of this election year, the legislative week started late Tuesday and ended by Thursday afternoon -- and that was during the relatively few weeks the House wasn't in recess.

Next year, members of the House will be expected in the Capitol for votes each week by 6:30 p.m. Monday and will finish their business about 2 p.m. Friday, Hoyer said.

Screw them all.

How convenient, It's only bad for a democratic president to take vacations but when a republican does it he gets a free pass. :eyes:

Have a great time out in the wilderness repub douchebags, this country will be WAY better off without your incompetent lackeys in office.

14. I don't give a shit if the President wants to take in a Broadway play.
It's culture. Broadway's pretty good.

And the Republicans have sand in their asscracks--they have short memories, too, because I seem to remember a certain asswipe President fiddling while New Orleans drowned...

22. A big EFF YOU to the repigs ... folks CRAMMED the sidewalks in NYC for a glimpse of the Obamas.
Check out the great photos of all the people packing the streets to see their president and first lady.

http://news.aol.com/article/obamas-in-new-york-city/452442?icid=main|main|dl1|link3|http%3A%2F%2Fnews.aol.com%2Farticle%2Fobamas-in-new-york-city%2F452442

And this from the NYT:

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/05/31/nyregion/31obama.html?hp

... Times Square was even more frenetic than usual, as pedestrians lined several blocks waiting to catch a glimpse of Mr. and Mrs. Obama. At the corner of Broadway and 44th Street, a crowd stood and watched expectantly, even though they were so far away they could barely see the old-fashioned sign for the Belasco, illuminated in light bulbs.

“It’s going to be so cool to go to school and say I saw the president," said Jessica Allen, a 16-year-old who landed a prime spot across the street from the theater, hours before the show began.

Just before 8 p.m., the crowd erupted in cheers as the couple arrived in a black limousine.

... Mr. Coleman said Mr. Obama’s presence would be especially poignant, because Mr. Wilson, who died in 2005, could not be there to see the president walk into the theater.

“I hope he’s smiling somewhere,” he said. “Because this is huge.”

24. If I were a reporter, I'd keep my eye on Gail Gitcho (and Michael Steele).
... or any of those prominent repugs.
Next time one of them is seen out on the town, throwing money around "during a recession" ... their pictures need to be plastered all over the front pages of the newspapers. Because you know the Repug lifestyle makes Barack and Michelle's little date night look like a trip to the 7/11!

25. After putting up with GOP nonsense and clearing their icky mess the least they deserve is good night
out. I thin Prosident Obama would rather of preferred the last 8 years didn't happen so it all can be a fresh new beginning. It'd be so cool if we could do that somehow. Good for them to let their hair down and spread some wings.
