I didn't want a trash Clark thread, and you'll notice I mentioned Clark not one time in the original post, but your post deserves a bit of comment.
1. Hanging out with Serbian war criminal, Mladic. Here's a great Clark photo op. Thats Clark in the middle, with Mladic just to the left (Clark's right). How fun, they are playing "switch the hat"!
And here's another photo of Mladic
That one would be his Interpol Wanted Poster from this page:
http://www.interpol.int/public/Wanted/Notices/Data/1995/54/1995_47754.aspMladic is wanted for the following:
ASSAULT, CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY, CRIMES AGAINST LIFE AND HEALTH, GRAVE BREACHES OF THE 1949 GENEVA CONVENTIONS, MURDER, PLUNDER, VIOLATIONS OF THE LAWS OR CUSTOMS OF WAR.
2. Having his picture taken with KLA terroristsHere's the photo. The man on the left is KLA leader Hashim Thaci.
The KLA, or Kosova Liberation Army, has been linked to Osama bin Laden, and has received training from Al Queda terrorist operatives.
Clark has a bad habit of getting photographed in a friendly pose with some nasty characters.
3. Insulting southerners by saying "All Americans, even if they're from the South and 'stupid,' should be represented.'Here's the link:
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/gossip/story/135064p-120343c.htmlAnd the quote:
Q: And what is Clark's reaction to former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean's pandering comment that that he, Dean, wants the votes of Southerners, i.e. "guys with Confederate flags in their pickup trucks"?
A: "Well, he shouldn't have said those things. I think all Americans - and this is a joke! - all Americans, even if they're from the South and 'stupid,' should be represented."
Well, at least Clark said he was joking. But does that make it OK? Can I call your mother a prostitute, as long as I say "This is a joke"?
Well, I wouldn't accept that shit. But that's just me, I guess.
4. Supporting the war in Iraq
"Wesley Clark's statements are not in conflict. Here's what Clark says in a September New York Times article:
At the time, I probably would have voted for it, but I think that's too simple a question...I don't know if I would have or not. I've said it both ways because when you get into this, what happens is you have to put yourself in a position -- on balance, I probably would have voted for itClark himself recognizes that he has said it
both ways, that he once said would never have voted yes on the IWR, and that he also said he would have probably voted yes on IWR.
Unfortunately, Clark contradicts himself in the October 9th debate when Judy Woodruff asks:
Woodruff: But you acknowledge there were some changes in your statements about Iraq . . .
Clark: No
All above at Factcheck.org
http://www.factcheck.org/article.aspx?docID=1075. Doing GOP fundraisers
He also did a number of Democratic fundraisers. It's OK to do Dem fundraiser if you're a Dem. It's actually a GOOD thing!
It's NOT OK to do Republican Fundraisers if you're a Dem. Very Bad.
tsk tsk tsk...
Why is this difficult for some people to understand?
6. Repeatedly expressing his gratefulness that Bush was PresidentHere's the quote:
At the Pulaski County GOP Lincoln Day Dinner in Little Rock, Arkansas on May 11, 2001, General Clark declared: 'And I'm very glad we've got the great team in office, men like Colin Powell, Don Rumsfeld, Dick Cheney, Condoleezza Rice... people I know very well - our president George W. Bush. We need them there.'
and later in the same speech-
"President George Bush had the courage and the vision... and we will always be grateful to President George Bush for that tremendous leadership and statesmanship."
and AGAIN, in a Jan 2002 speech:
"I tremendously admire, and I think we all should, the great work done by our commander-in-chief, our president, George Bush."
http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,524416,00.htmlthanks for your time... Please vote Howard Dean in your state primary, and in November in the GE.
Unfortunately, the Time article appears to have gone into archives.
