Ticker at MSNBC says AFL-CIO endorses Dean
Edited on Thu Jan-08-04 07:38 PM by slinkerwink
Trying to pull the rug out from under Gephardt? If so it certainly doesn't break my heart, especially since Gephardt is on Hardball right now talking about the "rumors" that Dean supporters are going to Iowa to pose as Iowa voters in the caucuses...not just to campaign for Dean. Sleazy. AFL-CIO is a nice coup for Dean.

Edit: This is hearsay, and it might be a local AFL-CIO union that endorsed Dean. But it's good news anyway if a local AFL-CIO union endorsed Dean.

15. This photo tells it all.
Plus, I will never forget seeing Gephardt in Cincinnati at some union hall begging for endorsements when he was suppose to be in Congress.....voting against the overtime bill.

We lost that vote to the repugs because Gephardt and several other democrats were absent.

Wow!
I feel a bit sorry for Gephardt, but he should have expected this. He's run an "Iowa only" campaign and he can not expect the AFL-CIO the put their eggs in that basket.

Tom Harkin is next.

19. AFL_CIO wants to be attached to a "winner."
I'm a big Labor guy. Local Union President and all that stuff.
Naturally, I was in the Gephardt camp early on. I have since switched to Dean as I could see the writing on the wall from the AFL-CIO for quite some time now.

Organized Labor has been under attack for several decades and we need to be identified with a winning campaign to reverse the damage done by 3 decades of offensive legislation.

In our hearts, we all know Gephardt is the best friend Labor has. Sometimes politics suck.

17. No AFL-CIO Endorsement for Dean
The AFL-CIO will not endorse any candidate. Too many unions are committed to Gephardt for Dean to enough support to win an endorsement.

Here's the title of the article:
