How not to fall for the republican spin, and look like a complete @sshat
Give any story three days.. seriously three days. How many times, have people jumped the shark, called out our politicians for doing this or that and three days later find it is 180 degrees opposite. I have lost count myself.

The latest, Obama supposedly checking out an underage woman.

Sure enough, we get start to get the OH MY's what has he done now, and the freeper spin against our own people.

The whole video shows something quite different, he was helping another person down the steps.

Stop throwing our people under the bus, every chance we get.

This is not marching in lockstep.. But let us stop being used.

We accuse the freepers and their ilk of being lemmings..

Sometimes I think we need to take a mirror to our own overreactions.

Three days.. it is magical how that works.

1. Checking out whether the story is factual also helps
It's not like we have to wait to be told by the msm anymore. Google is our friend. Learning to use it is the sign of someone who wants corroboration.

2. Posting false stories is becoming a trend here
And If I checked out a 16 year old boy it would be gross and wrong too. What is wrong with people that they would think Barack would do that?

4. Jen, I swear to GOD, sometimes I get the feeling it is whoppee..
we get to call our people out. And it is just not Obama,it is Pelosi, Dean, you name it. If we are going to call our own out, lets at least have some solid facts to work from.

5. I agree
And the "fun" about staring at an underage kid kind of makes me sick since I worked with sexually abused children. Sorry, its not funny to me. I once had a 10 year old try to come on to me. He did not get that I was 24 and he was 10 and it was wrong. I take this stuff seriously.

3. I would love to see the same energy, put in calling out Hannity and his ilk
for spreading slime like it was news, and living in the "out of context"

6. But, but, but truth aside...it's "normal" and "healthy" for a 47 year old man...
...to ogle an underage girl in front of the whole world, on camera ... in fact EVERY MAN DOES THIS.

And you're a big, fat meanie for saying it's not just fine!!

:sarcasm:

Thanks, Peacetrain - its nice to see a voice of reason weighing in, in a sea of reactionaries and pedophile wanna be's/apologists.

16. me too...and I'm especially sickened by the frat-boy mentality
that permeates media.... I just mentioned the same elsewhere..... the frat-boy mentality that not only feels entitled to consume "hotties" like they consume a six-pack and toss the empties, but also to denigrate and laugh at the girls they lick their chops over. Judging and simultaneously damning all women by one standard -- their fuckability quotient.

I could go on, but I think I'll just stop now.... pisses me off too much.

The worst part is, if you speak up about how disgusting it is, they appear in droves to insult you and and call you "uptight."

Which is absurd - it's not uptight to ask to be treated with respect, and have our young girls who are way too young to be subjected to this crap treated with respect.

19. goddammit, EXACTLY
And why does alerting on this crap accomplish exactly nothing?
If that kind of anti-respect activity went on in response to any other group, you can bet your ass they'd be TS'd in a heartbeat.

Geez, one of the usual suspects didn't like someone being angry about rape, so this prick harrassed the poster mercilessly and even stooped to "I'd like to rape your mother" as an o-so-snarky comeback.

I don't know how many people alerted, but I did, and it did nothing.

24. I had the same experience. The rape defender is still here, posting away.
He said that "women lie about rape all the time" therefore a woman who says she was raped should just not be believed. Then, he posted a link from FOX NEWS to support his "theory".

He's still here.

10. Oh I know...
I was merely poking fun at those who would be more inclined to defend Obama if he were acting like a pig vs. actually question the fact that he might be acting that way at all.

13. Right...
And it's really odd how many people just accept what the Freepers and Drudge tell them and then justify it by saying every single male on earth acts the exact same way. Hello?

Not giving the human race much credit there. Some of us actually do think for ourselves and avoid "pack mentality."

Not normal?

I'm a woman and if I had a camera on me 24/7 I am certain you would find me glancing at a good looking guy eventually, I must the the Whore of Babylon.

12. I don't understand
how anyone who really wants the president to succeed could look at that picture and not be skeptical. My first thought was that Obama is too smart and professional to leer at any woman like that with cameras clicking away.

If you watch the video, you will see that he probably wasn't looking at her at all.

15. I guess I worded that wrong.
I was skeptical that he was checking her out. I couldn't believe that so many here were willing to believe he was. My first thought was that Obama is too smart and professional for that. The video confirmed what I was thinking.

17. I understood what you meant
and I agree.

I wish that prior to anyone posting that photo here, they would have at least taken the time to read the real caption under the photo. The one that gave details as to who was in the photo.

We are every bit as guilty of this going viral, as Freepers are.

20. All it takes is a little common sense…
It was a snapshot of a fraction of a second in time -- clearly there would be more to the story. I was surprised to see the number of people who were so ready and willing to believe that he was actually checking the girl out -- and thought that it's normal for grown men to lust after underage girls.

By the way, Peacetrain, it's posts like yours that stifle free speech around here! :sarcasm:

28. Well, that would be fine if…
Obama was the president of some European country. But he's not. I can only guess by your response that it would be fine with you if, for example, a 38 year old man was checking out a 13-year old relative of yours. :eyes:

21. There's been so much of it lately with Obama, Kerry,
Pelosi, etc, etc..wasn't there a link to fauxsn00ze about something with Kerry the other day?

And, if one doesn't believe the corporatemedia then they're accused of being "fans"..not that I give a shit.

We need a cleaner tighter ship.

Obama, but Kerry, Dean, Pelosi, and other Dems (minus Kucinich). It's been happening since 2005 or before then.

The blogs are becoming what they once despised. It's getting tiresome.
