4. good representation
this country is surely built on the backs of all laborers and entrepreneurs, asian, black, hispanic, women, native american, artists, gay people, old, young, conservatives, liberals, socialists and all the rest of them and us. The old white guys were merely able to exploit all of us. It is willful ignorance on the part of Pat B. and his ilk to continue to insist on their deluded superiority.

20. That is why Pat and is ilk want to rewrite history as we know it
So they can attempt to erase who actually built this country. All of the groups you mentioned and more were there doing the physical labor and mind you creating amazing inventions.

I am reading a book right now about inventions by blacks during slavery, did you know that many technical advancements were made by slaves but they couldn't apply for patents because....they were slaves. So their inventions were stolen or modifed and patented by their masters or others. I am sure there are many instances of this happening to all the groups you mentioned.

There are two books that are really facinating.

The one I mentioned above is:

The Real McCoy
African-American Invention and Innovation, 1619-1930
Author: Portia P. James.

I am not all the way through it but it is quite amazing.

Another book I have yet to get to is:

Ingeneious Women
From Tincture of Saffron to Flying Machines
Author: Deborah Jaffe

I have been on this kick to understand inventions and innovation.

Have fun and let me know what you think!!:hi:

40. same type of thing happened to 1950's Black musicians

Pat Boone and his ilk recorded a lot of R&B written and original performed by Black artists because the radio wouldn't give them play time.

edit for spelling

31. Same applies to women.
Young women have an easier time of it than we who were born before 1946 do. But, even now, women are expected to bear most of the burden of childrearing and also have careers. It's very difficult to compete in the workplace with a man who can work umpteen hours because his wife has a job that allows her to stay with the kids after school and take care of all their needs after her work.

Same is true for a man who is the primary parent for his child.

32. Yep. A good riff on Jesse Jackson's original analogy of taking the weights off of the runners...
after the race is 1/2 over, and calling it "all good".
