I honestly think that Pelosi is proving heself to be a poot Speaker
She is not on the same page as majority leader Hoyer or the timeline for getting the Healthcare bill done.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told her rank and file in a closed-door session that they were still on schedule to approve legislation before members leave town for the monthlong August recess. And that pledge, in turn, came after Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) told reporters that the House might recess for the summer without passing a bill.

and She is not keeping key committee chair in the loop on what she is thinking on the Surtax trigger.

First-year Rep. Jared Polis (D-Colo.), an early opponent of the surtax on the wealthy to help pay for the bill, commended Pelosi for suggesting that the trigger for a health care surtax be raised to $500,000 for individuals and $1 million for couples. “It’s a sign that leadership is listening to the concerns of new members,” Polis said. But the man who drafted the surtax was less impressed with the speaker’s concession. “She has mentioned this more than once with me present in a group — but not as any indication that she wants our committee to review it,” a frustrated Ways and Means Committee Chairman Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) told reporters Tuesday. “She’s never discussed it with me.” “I support what we have put out,” Rangel continued. “If anybody has a problem with it, I’m anxious to listen.

I am not suggesting that Pelosi is not ideologically fit. Just suggesting that she is not doing what is needed to do as a manager.

And Baucus clearly does not need republicans on his committee to vote something out. but the industry lobbyists continue to manage him by his pubes. You are from Montana from Cripes sake. How much money could you possibly need for your campaign coffers???????

1. Baucus is the true problem, there HAS to be a more progressive candidate to run against him
...and finance said candidate via the internets

4. Way too many cooks spoiling the broth
There's a reason that saying was made up. We have Wyden running around promoting his plan, we've had Schumer running around with his various "compromises", we've had the Senate Finance Committee, the Senate HELP Committee, the various House Committees, etc. I didn't see the highly vaunted skills of Rahm Emmanual pushing through any unified vision of reform. That would have come from the top, and I am sorry to say, that push was lacking. I think it was sacrificed in the pointless search for bi-partisanship.

Yes, it's way past time for the President to take the reins on this.

6. Obama sat back and gave Congress a chance to lead. They failed.
Look for him to take charge during tonite's press conference. He has a strategy and just as he campaigned, tends to hold back until it almost seems he's lost.
