I'm Thinking That President Obama Complimented Grassley On Purpose ......
to put him in a bind with his party and the big insurance money that Grassley is getting.

I think Grassley is the thorn in Sen. Baucus side - and Obama purposely called Grassley his friend and said that he is working in a bipartisan way - only to smoke him out - put him in a bad position - and make him show his true colors.

I think it worked. Grassley's statement on the 'death panels' - really makes him out to look like a wacko. Illustrates that Grassley may be the one holding up the Finance Committee and if we don't get a bipartisan bill - Grassley will have to shoulder some of that blame.

There is no way Grassley wants to be labeled Obama's friend. Not now at least.

Notice how quickly Johnny Isakson reversed himself when people started to point out that he was the original author of the end-of-life counseling provision. . .

Republicans are so beholden to the lunatic fringe that Grassley had no choice but to appease them today.

2. They Just Keep Digging the Hole Deeper
Their base is pushing the party right into the ocean.

3. A combination of pandering to their base and running so fast from Obama

that they run right into a wall.

Keep it up, Repubs. Keep it up.

I'm sure the President knows he can rely on certain knee-jerk reactions to him from certain quarters. Why not use it to his advantage?

4. Cheesy Chuck has always shown that he's a wacko
the only thing that ever gave him any credibility was Obama

5. So am I.
There are things that Obama has, and has not, done that bother me.

But acting like a complete blind fool by praising Grassley just doesn't strike me as a dumbfuck move by Obama. More like a "fuck you" move on Grassley.

6. It is a time-consuming and painstaking task to try and determine whether
Grassley is more worthless as a Senator these days or in times past, there being an amplitude of evidence in support of either claim.

He's not quite as looney as he is limited, but almost. And dumber than a dog toy.

7. good call. sounds highly likely. Grassley does a great job of looking like a whacko even without
the reverse psychology of the president though, lol.... he's an annoying man!

and anyone yapping on about 'Death Panels' and such, is clearly a loon or racist, or even both.

9. It would be so much the better if we could give Grassley a break,
but IMO your assessment of his character and his role in this is exactly right.
