Economic recovery - the food pantry across the street is MOBBED in this W MA town

And, mostly FAMILIES WITH KIDS!

Economic recovery, my ass.

250,000 job losses and we are told it is gettig better?

There is no job creation in SIGHT, where I live. There hasn't been for YEARS. The storefronts are half empty, and the only businesses that survive on main st - insurance companies & a lunch joint.

Most all of our local factories are closed.

There will be no recovery. What we have had is the FIRST leveling....The new way of American life. The working class is the working poor. The wealthy only look at the state of the workers as a number in an equation, how will our situation effect their ability to redistribute our work and wealth, back to them.

I guess this is our karma. The cruelty of our political system to the more vulnerable populations now mocks us - as we become the vulnerable.

Millions of us - on edge.

But, when others didn't have a chance, we condemned them and allowed our political leaders to strip away every protection they had.

And, I guess when you allow the world to be enslaved to make your goods - when small children sew your sneakers & pick your coffee beans to drink, so you can buy a cheaper product and not pay a adult, a living wage to perform your work....

What does one expect?

Except for crowded food pantries and tons of your neighbors without work....some on the verge of homelessness.

4. I guess someone doesn't understand that job hiring is the absolute last thing that occurs after a
recession ends.

I don't expect job hires to increase until January 2010.

5. Since I'm single and work part time, I go every two or three weeks
The previous two times I went it was mobbed. I went this week, arriving as usual for the 10AM opening. There wasn't a long line this time, and I thought, "Well, maybe the economy IS starting to turn around." But then I overheard one of the workers say, "It's been getting so crowded here, we've had to start opening at nine!"
