Families USA: "Pelosi’s Health Reform Bill Sets the Gold Standard for Health Reform"

House Speaker Pelosi’s Health Reform Bill Sets the Gold Standard for Health Reform This Year

Families USA Particularly Lauds the Speaker’s Proposal That Makes Health Coverage and Care Affordable for Families in Greatest Need

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi today unveiled her health reform bill that will be debated on the floor of the House of Representatives next month. The following is the statement of Ron Pollack, Executive Director of Families USA, about this development:

“The House health insurance reform bill sets the gold standard for legislation that deserves to be adopted this year.

“The bill will provide America’s families with peace of mind. It does so by ensuring that affordable, high-quality health coverage and care will not be taken away from them, even when they get sick, have a pre-existing condition, or lose their jobs.

“Families USA especially lauds the House proposal because it makes health coverage affordable for families most in need. It does so by ensuring that Medicaid, a key safety net program, will become available for families with incomes below 150 percent of the federal poverty level—approximately $33,000 in annual income for a family of four.

“The bill also provides needed subsidies so that health insurance premiums will be affordable for working families.

“We urge the House to adopt this bill as soon as possible. We will mobilize families across the country to secure final passage of the legislation this year.”

I'll wait till there is a summary of the bill till I attack it or praise it. That being said, this was supposed to be the stronger of the two bills due to the issues in the Senate.

4. "I'll wait till there is a summary " It's not that hard to read, big type, wide margins, but here's
a start: this and this came directly from the bill.

I told ProSense she was one of my favorite reports and it's true. She ROUNDS everything up for me. Nice and tidy. And it's more than likely gonna be something I like to read so that's good.

I'm glad she's on our side .... she's got the talent that comes in handy around election time. After 2012, maybe we can have her made the czar of something, maybe Ambassador to Disneyland something cool like that. ;)

Allthough I think Prosense posts very good articles with well sourced info...unlike some on this board. Under this plan I would be able to join the PO and have it by Jan 1, 2010.

I find them a refreshing contrast to the unnamed source garbage and the opining of the "it ain't never gonna be good enough and that will prove me right, so there!" threads that I have to wade through whenever I come to DU.

Whenever folks have invested months and emotions attempting to sell this President as a reincarnation of Bush or something therecloseto, they have to hang on to their criticism, or else they will look like big mouth fools who didn't know shit......so they will continue to post, and so I'm very glad that Prosense does too!

like all of our sources need to be checked sometimes. Sometimes ProSenses links have nothing to do with the OP she's linking to respond to.

I was simply asking for a summary of a bill before I made a final judgement. ProSense linked to a page and a paragraph of a 1900 page bill.

20. Prosense reads things and makes up her own mind......
ProSense hightlights what she wants to highlight.

"Critical" eye is a relative term.

I've dealt with auditors. Most are anal.
They either want all of the work done for them,
or they get stuck on one little thing,
after "sampling" and won't let go.

I know, I'm an Accountant.

with the goal of making them "bullet" proof, i.e., as close to perfection as possible.

You political postings do seem to support an auditor's profile.

conditioned to think "right wingers" whenever i saw the word "family" in an organization's formal name(focus on the family, family research council, etc). But i digress, I doubt any wingnut group would ever endorse anything coming from Obama's admin. so who in fuck is this group? time to google.....

Not sure what your links were aiming to prove because mandates don't lower cost. The risks and benefits are alleviated with adequate subsidies and lower costs.

After providing your own links, I take it you will not be complaining about links in your response.

own single payer plans. That has been stripped from the bill. Apparently the don't want to risk that the insurance companies will lose all those subscribers in states that might decide to opt out of the same corrupt system we have now.
