Poll question: Do you Approve of the Job Barack Obama is Doing as President?
Edited on Mon Nov-02-09 06:40 PM by MadBadger
Ive wanted to take the temperature of DU for awhile now of key figures in the Obama administration, and on the eve of election day 2010, a year since Obama won the 2008 Presidential Election, I thought now would be a good time.

The scale I'm using is different than one I and other pollsters have used previously, but I think this fits better.

Here is a link to the poll on VP Joe Biden

1. It's nice to have competency back...shame we can't have a real left and a real right.
Otherwise we might have two competent parties controlling things and hey, who knows what kind of hijinx we'd get into. :sarcasm:

2. How about "don't disapprove"
I have plenty of opinions on him. I can't say I approve, but I don't disaprove.

Let's see what he does with HCR and Afghanistan first...

4. Problem is "No Opinion, I don't know" insinuates one is apolitical.
Edited on Mon Nov-02-09 06:37 PM by YOY
Putting the apolitical in with those who are still withholding a verdict seems a little...not right.

5. I dont think that is an issue in a DU poll, but I'll fix it so it says, "Not sure/Don't know"

6. Disappointed about Bernanke, Geithner, etc. and also DADT
But I also understand he's gotten a lot done, he's doing the best he can, and it's early in the game yet.

9. Bush had 8 LONG years to screw things up. It's going to take time
to get things back where they should be. Obama is working his ass off compared to other Presidents. There is only so much the man can get done at a time.

18. I totally agree
Edited on Tue Nov-03-09 03:47 PM by AspenRose
Did my post sound like I was impatient with him? Because I think any reasonable person reading "But I also understand he's gotten a lot done, he's doing the best he can, and it's early in the game yet" would not see impatience or disapproval.

Disagreement with a few issues does not necessarily mean disapproval.

7. I voted Approve
I'm still upset about the inaction on DADT, for which I blame Congress and him.

to approve of the job he is doing even if he brought the sky to their

12. Somewhat disapprove.
I want him to do well but think health care was handled very poorly. My fingers are crossed for the end of Afghanistan.

I'm really just hoping to see something to indicate he wants to really change the direction of this country from a corporatocracy to an actual representative democracy. The Goldman appointments lead me to believe this is not the case.

14. Approve but needs to be more aggressive in combating corporate influence and SOP in Congress
I'm pretty sour on the influence Geithner and Summers. Also, he needs to get McChrystal and Lieberman in check or smacked down.

15. Might also make sense to have a Justice Department that actually holds individuals and corporations
accountable for violations of federal laws.

Even Bush I managed to do that after the savings & loan debacle.

the best job anyone could have done under the toughest presidency in decades. Thank god it seems like most Americans can see it.
