Ed Schultz is acting stupidly.
Edited on Tue Nov-03-09 06:07 PM by Drunken Irishman
Flame me if you want...I don't give a shit. His crapehanging is pathetic.

I normally like him and I think he's somewhat intelligent on most issues. However, he's acting like a stooge on this one. It doesn't take much smarts to poke holes in his bullshit argument that this election isn't going to go the Democrats way because of Pres. Obama.

Who has better approval ratings right now in New Jersey - Obama or Corzine? Do the fucking math.

Jesus Christ on a pogo stick.

If the Democrats go 0-3 tonight, it has nothing to do with Pres. Obama. Absolutely nothing. It has nothing to do with healthcare. It has everything to do with an incumbent who has had to fight high unpopularity for a year now and a challenger in Virginia who ran a pisspoor campaign.

It's that simple, Ed.

.... so I could do it during Ed's show because I knew this was going to happen. ('cause it's not like I can change the channel or something! lol) I generally enjoy his show because he has the best guests on IMO.

Did you hear the letter he topped off with? The woman who wrote, "I expected change to happen immediately!" ...... CLEARLY she wasn't paying attention to the President's speech on election night.

And lest there be any confusion, it's not that I have a problem with criticism of the President. Keith and Rachel have had their moments .... but their moments seemed based on rational thought and informed opinion. Ed's just spouting off.

Okey dokey .... bananna's all finished .... garbage can, here I come!

47. It's interesting how so many DUers don't like Randi Rhodes, but of all the so-called liberal
or progressive talkers, she and Thom have been the most level-headed, the most politically and intellectually astute, and very, very well informed. As much as I love Ed, Rachel, Keith, Mike Malloy...they are all screaming and complaining, almost sounding shrill. Randi has become much more even-tempered, even when wingnuts call into her show. She doesn't yell at them as she used to. I'm a liberal AND a pragmatist. We have to understand the kind of political climate that we're currently in.

Edited on Tue Nov-03-09 10:01 PM by wisteria
If Corizine loses it is because the people of his state think they are way over taxed. In that kind of climate all it takes is a challenger to say he is not going to raise taxes and will return some of it to the people.

52. No it just means he can't save an incumbent who is already screwed
I guarantee you there will be more Democrats that want the President to come campaign for them than the President has time for.

What this does mean is that when Senator X who is in a tough re-election battle is being asked to vote for a bill the President wants, Senator X isn't going to be swayed when the President tells him that in exchange for his vote he will make a bunch of campaign stops in Senator X's state and that will almost guarantee he is re-elected. And quite frankly that is an unrealistic expectation. Presidents, no matter how popular they are, just don't have that kind of power.

43. I podcast Ed and DVR his show. I haven't watched in weeks and thinking about
unsubscribing from his podcast. He's not being very smart or pragmatic about the true nature of governing. It's so easy for him and Bill Maher to sit and pontificate and complain about what Obama is and is not doing. It's altogether another thing for them to understand how difficult it is to oversee public policy. They blame Obama, but don't understand basic Civics 101! There are three separate and distinct branches of government, each having its own powers and responsibilities. And yet, Schultz doesn't seem to fully grasp these concepts so eloquently written in Federalist Papers numbers 47 and 51. Perhaps he needs to go and re-read those papers.

He knows that the New Jersey gubernatorial race isn't a referendum on Obama but he doesn't care. He wants people to believe it is a referendum on Obama because it helps his argument that Obama needs to move to the left.
