15. we had a black cops, white Police Chief situation
Edited on Tue Nov-03-09 11:17 PM by angee_is_mad
up here and the white chief got fired and it pissed alot of whites off. So this is a way to get back at black folks.

Our elections are nonpartisian (not really) but everyone has a d or an r behind their name and the repubs have control. It's going to be a rough two years for the black community in Greensboro.

A black police chief was hired to replace the white one who was fired and the new mayor has him in his sight.

22.  23 yr old WSSU Student Derwin L. Montgomery
was officially elected tonight to the Winston Salem City Council.

For those who don't know WSSU is HBCU, Winston Salem State university. WSSU is a precinct in itself and those students came out full blast in August to vote for their fellow student. He was unoppose this evening.

I'm not sure if he is the youngest person to seat on a city council in NC, but he is the youngest to ever have a seat in Winston Salem.

And yes, he was one of Obama's young guns during the Presidential election.

13. And That's Where it Starts
Local mayors, city councils, state reps, etc. That's how the wingnuts did it for years. It's time for Democrats to do the same...

20. Haven't you heard?
Any election won by Democratic candidates is unimportant and over rated. That's what I have been reading (between te lines) all night.
By the way David Pluffe (Obama's campaign manager) is kicking Jon Stewart's butt on TDS. haha
