Rye's Binnie makes official his run for U.S. Senate
RYE — Saying the economic times demand a businessman's perspective and experience, Republican Bill Binnie will officially become a U.S. Senate candidate today.

Binnie, a Harvard-educated entrepreneur who helped rescue the Wentworth by the Sea Country Club in the mid-1990s and founded the international Carlisle Capital Group of Portsmouth, will file his candidate papers in Concord with the Federal Elections Commission and the New Hampshire secretary of state.

He told the Herald he understands the economic challenges and insecurity felt by New Hampshire residents.

"I will be the fiscal conservative in the race, and I want to work for the people of New Hampshire to help address their economic concerns," said Binnie, who was inspired by former President Ronald Reagan's vision of a limited government that fosters economic growth.
