Republican health plan would only cover 3 million uninsured people!

House GOP Health Plan Would Cover Relatively Few
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
November 4, 2009

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Congressional budget umpires say the House Republican health plan would only make a small dent in the number of uninsured Americans.

In an analysis released late Wednesday, the Congressional Budget Office said the GOP plan would reduce the number of uninsured by 3 million.

The Democratic bill, by comparison, would reduce the number of uninsured by 36 million. Both estimates are for the year 2019.

The budget office says the Republican plan would reduce federal deficits by $68 billion over the 10 year period, and push down premiums for privately insured people.

1. Where are the "That's better than nothing" people? or the "It's a start" people?

2. I imagine they are thinking that the "start" that covers more people is more acceptable than the
"start" that covers much fewer.

4. Yep, and they confuse that with choice. The fact ios the Dem bill is unsustainable since it contains
no way to control costs.

So just let Romney Care that it's modeled after, as prices sky rocket, benefits will be cut.

We are being scammed and people confuse that with reform.

3. WTH. This bill makes our support for Obama and the Dem initiatives look a LOT better.
Sorry, you can't use this to strengthen your naysaying agenda, better look elsewhere.

5. Hey, the Dems could pass this today with the Repos, and then go and try to get the other one passed
in a couple of months!

It's a start!

7. Covering 3 million people is better than none. Or is it?

8. Basic plan in the House bill covers 70% of costs, the balance is paid...
out of pocket, many people will still have a hard time paying their share in addition to premiums, out of network charges and any other services not covered by the plan.
