*This* is Barack Obama
Look at the list of Organizations endorsing the House health care bill. No other president ever came even close to create such a coalition. This president is 100% right in his approach that most of the time it's better to compromise in order to achieve progress, than to take the all-or-nothing attitude that never lead to anything good. This will not be a perfect reform by any mean, but it'll be something worth at least 40 years of progress, and a terrific start to build on. Passing HCR and dealing with the unemployment, can pave the way to many-many years of Democrats governing America. It's time for some to take a step back and look at the big picture.

Ever happened at once in America. It always take years and tears and sometime decades. I really can't believe that so many on the left will oppose such a major progress, only because it doesn't go far enough for them.

38. Politics = Compromise
How many Americans will die because we do nothing? Something many of us forgot or never knew:

Politics is the art of compromise.

That means we don't get everything we want, but we do get much of what we want.

I agree with you that the current proposals could be ***MUCH*** better. I believe that single-payer is what we should have. It appears that our politicians are not brave enough to go there though.

Give the RW crazies (that was redundant, wasn't it) some time to see that the sky hasn't fallen and in coming years we will improve the system. Sure, it sucks that we can't have it all now; but at least it's something to build on. If we demand everything now we will end up with nothing.

... I would like the Obama die hard apologizers to realize that if one must resort to ad hominems and misrepresentations to defend these policies, that they should take a look hard look at the strength and validity of such stances.

I am really tired of people equating potential with results, and dismissing actual results when they are plainly negative and don't fit their narrative.

Marketing can take you guys so far when trying to portrait a milquetoast legislation (and that is with a very liberal application of benefit of the doubt) such as this current health care "reform" farce, as some sort of political tour de force. I am starting to see a similar pattern of disconnection with reality which I don't care to see repeated after the 8 years of hell we went through...

18. How could it not be partially, at least, Obama?
If he, as the President, wanted to design a plan or have a team design the plan, he could have easily done that. He chose to have congress step up. His choice. Whether or not you like the bill, Obama played a role in determining its course.

I am with the radical fringe, the real Democrats, that are working for health care that makes sense.
We call it single payer.

I am not a sellout that is going to support giving the health insurance companies mandates, and we the people get crumbs for a public option.

If you want crumbs, then you must be the GOP, because it sure the hell isn't me.

I don't think it matters as long as WE are Democrats! I Do Not Agree with a LOT of the things MY party is doing,BUT IT SURE BEATS THE HELL OUTTA THE LAST EIGHT YEARS!!!

The "Other" Party uses "Divide and Conquer"Tactics very well and YOU are falling right into their trap.

they have been putting party over country since day one, and finally the hubris of such an attitude was too obvious to ignore.

What you are suggesting, in your post, is exactly that: party over country. Dems right or wrong, right? And the circle continues...

If you have a serious eye issue, you should be seeing an ophthalmologist, not an optometrist. Ophthalmologists are MDs and hence medical insurance.

Dental missing, that would be a big one - my impression is the bill does not cover dental? am I wrong? So why would dentists endorse it.

When i say religious, I mean people of faith in God and belief in the bible?
There are a few names on this list, but every church in the world should be strong supporters in providing health care for
everyone.
Having health ins. may actually reduce abortion and
communicable diseases and a long list of problems associated with the lack of proper health care.

50. This bill SUCKS - and most people don't understand what is in it

This list is a reflection of people wanting some sort of change over the horrendous status quo not realizing that the status quo is being EXPANDED under this legislation.

And, is precisely because of apologists such as yourself that place the politician over the policy that we are stuck in debating whether to SELL OUT for a piece of crap legislation that won't solve the problem instead of banding together and fighting for real reform.

I invite you to read my journal. Really read it. Read the links. Read the real costs. Read who won't be covered. Read the fact that this is a corporately written wet dream that only survives because people such as yourself will champion CORPORATE legislation because it bears Obama's name.

Shame on Obama. Shame on Congress. And, shame on you for capitulating to the corporate interests.

56. That list should make EVERYONE very nervous.
This can't be good legislation if some of those organizations support it.

Without the Kucinich Amendment, passing this law will be worse than doing nothing.

66. And your point is...?
Edited on Fri Nov-06-09 03:57 PM by Stumbler
Posting a list of organizations that support the watered-down compromise that fails to meet the needs of those whose demands originated the debate fails to prove that Obama gives a shit about real health care reform, over trying to be likable in everyone's eyes.

Yes, he's a nice guy and has a great family. And yes, he's a breath of fresh air after an president who couldn't speak eloquently without invoking fear, terror or human suffering. But his administration's unreasonable expectations for the liberals who voted him into office to remain silent while the Senate capitulates again and again for a single, possible Republican vote (maybe-if), is the pinnacle of back-stabbing hypocrisy.

Why has he spent months trying to gain the support of those who will never support him, at the expense of those who actually did give up their time and money to support him? That's like having the Steinbrenners bending over backwards to get any and all Phillies fans into the stadium at the expense of the dedicated, loyal Yankees fans. It makes no sense and serves no point.

67. Your last paragraph can also be applied to the "strategy" by the DLC, and which was made prevalent
ever since Carter started shifting the Dems to the right since the late 70s: The Dems have been hell bent on throwing their liberal base to the wolves, in order to gain the support of people who would rather stick a white hot iron up their rectum than vote for them. What could go wrong, eh?

69. Exactly!
And when any of them are up for re-election, they suddenly find their liberal values that've been neglected and stashed away deep in the closet for so many years.

And I already know the answer: Obama's no liberal; he's a corporate-complacency "moderate" Democrat, who's concerns lie in "not rocking the boat," instead of "change we can believe in." Obviously, one of those makes a better bumper sticker than the other.

I'm sick and tired of being told people like Kucinich "have great ideas, but are unelectable," and that policies like "medicare for everyone" are unreasonable, while being given "the choice" between two moderate, conservative, corporatist candidates who ultimately bow down to pressure from big money interests.

*sigh* Time for a drink....

would be "on board" if the health care bill was actually worth passing?
