Consensus! Kill Health Bill: Repugs, Teabaggers, Purists, Trots. Don't kill: Obama, Dean, Krugman...
Edited on Thu Nov-05-09 06:56 PM by HamdenRice
So let's see.

"Kill" the imperfect but dramatic health care reforms that are emerging is the consensus of House and Senate Repugs, Teabaggers, DU's anti-Obama purists, Trots.

Those who say the bills should proceed and the reforms are a good down payment on creating a new universal health care reform system include: Congressional Democratic leadership, the Obama administration, Paul Krugman, Howard Dean, AFL-CIO, the American Medical Association and the American Association of Retired Persons, among many others.

As the French say:

Dis-moi qui tu hantes, je te dirai qui tu es.

An Oregonian who lives in British Columbia yet still cares about the sorry state of the health care in America -and has read and understood more than 90% of the folks on this board.

10. www.handsoffmyhealthcare.org - Sponsored By Freedom Works
"Whats that make me?"

That puts you on the same side as these folks:

http://www.handsoffmyhealth.org/

The question to ask then is why the insurance industry if fighting reform so much if it such a give away? Who is funding this opposition? Also, why is the U.S. Chamber of Commerce dead set against the health care reform bill?

Just because you don't get your way?! My God. And people wonder why Obama can't get things done faster, you're just like the Conservadems on the other side of the spectrum. Fuckin' hell.

22. The bill would decrease the number of insured by 35 million.
900 billion over ten years is 90 billion per year. Distributing that over 35 million newly insered people makes the cost about $2600 per person per year. Of course the bill would do much more than reducing the number of uninsured. It would protect people with individual coverage from losing their insurance through rescission and would protect people with group coverage from the danger of losing their insurance because of loss of job loss. In addition it would save everyone money in the long term by increasing preventive care and facilitating the streamlining of the healthcare delivery system, and much more besides. $90 billion is less than 18% of the annual Defense Department budget. If you think that is too much to spend on American healthcare, what do you think of that DU darling HR676, which would cost over a trillion dollars a year?
