10 months in, President Obama achieves an historic victory. Amazing.
Think of it: A health care bill covering our nation. Both Roosevelts wanted it; Truman fought for it; Johnson got some of it; Clinton tried but failed.

President Obama got it through the House, even in the face of opposition from Dems who apparently take their marching orders from Rush. It's a long way from being law, admittedly. The first thing the Senate Dems have to do is reject Grassley utterly. He is a cancer. Then, use this momentum to ram it home.

Many here oppose it. I know it's not perfect, but it's still a good day to be a Dem, and an American.

Certainly imperfect. That said, Shall we dance?

1. Agreed -- this is one for the ages
And once the Senate gets its butt in gear, this President and Congress will go down in history as one of the greats.

2. And they threw women under the bus to do it. Stupak Amendment is an abomination.
But hey, as long as it looks good, who cares right?

20. No, saracat is not a troll. Far from it.
A voice to be respected. I agree with her, but this HAD to go through. I don't understand the Dems who pushed this, and I know Bart Stupak. I think we won tonight, but I totally disagree with the Stupak amendment. The perfect was not the enemy of the good tonight, but I understand.

I think we had to crush the GOP tonight to ever get health care reform, and we did it. Neither saracat nor I are bad people because of our positions.

24.  Stupak was the icing on the cake. That is beyond too much.
Real healthcare that covers ALL Americans and womens rights attacked at once. I would never say that Stupak is the only reason I don't think this is a good bill.

A small group, admittedly. They could use a leader.

Only requirement: Nice tan and expensive golf clubs.

.... of momentum in our favor. The feeling that it's now HARDER for the Blue Dogs etc. to oppose the Senate bill now that the House bill has passed.

It's a good feeling.

It will last until Harry scares the crap out of us again on Wednesday. :)

just asked some members here, as you can see some of the threads starting on

26. Ahhh, don't worry about it. This makes the history books, and he's not done yet.
I don't care that others denigrate this achievement. This is an extraordinary moment in U.S. history, and he just "happens" to be president now.

We are going to get an imperfect bill, but it will be a great achievement for Americans to get health care, and he is going to get it. This is transformational, for the nation and his presidency.
