Have you ever asked yourself why the Blue Dogs are "Blue Dogs?"
Why do you think they believe what they believe?

Is it all about money?

Is it all about sincere ideological differences with liberals?

Is it because they are morally deprived somehow?

Or is it for some other reason?

What do you think?

1. Depends on the blue dog. Some are truly fiscally conservative, some are just Democrats because...
...the Republicans were running someone else.

5. Ideology is for lip service only. They're blue because they're DINOs.

Repubs are all about $$$$$. Dems throw some occasional crumbs to Americans. DINOs ship the crumbs offshore.

7. Any number of reasons, I'm sure
Some actually have brainwashed, conservative constituencies.

Some have friends and family who work for the multinational monopolies.

Some get money from the multinational monopolies, and feel they need to represent them. They're "honest" - an honest man is a man who once bought stays bought.

Some are "blue dogs" on single issues, like abortion or war. They either want to kill, or don't want to kill... the two often go together.

The single issues are the biggest culprit. The media brainwashes people into thinking these wedge issues are of vital importance, and really the work the government should be doing. Some politicians (on either side) use these wedge issues, because it's a cheap way to get confused people to vote for them.

People are complicated, but they usually have reasons for what they do, whether you agree with their reasoning is up to you.

8. conventional wisdom is they live in red states, and have the (shitty) stances they have because it
reflects their constituency.

9. Corporatists first, party second
The same special interest groups that thoroughly corrupted the GOP in the late 70's began trying to corrupt the Democrats in the late 80's.

Stealth corporatists/neocons.
