Anti-Choicers roll the Dems at the last minute and it's okay...But Kucinich get's criticized here

Progressives allowed themselves to get rolled at the last minute by having to go along with a removal of women's rights to choice.

That's okay, we're told. It's the price we had to pay to get a bill.

But when Kucinich opposes the bill for legitimate reasons of believing it will do more harm than good in the long run, he gets lambasted.

Somehow there's a disconnect here. We're willing to suddenly dismiss certain reproductive rights for "the greater good" but actual opposition to the bill on the grounds that it will do more harm than good is not legitimate?

You can consider Kucinich a "purist" or a whinybaby or whatever you want. But his reasons for opposing the House bill are based on a desire to follow the Doctor's oath of "Do no harm."

Personally, I would have loved to see progressives be as effective in pushing for what they want as the small contingent of anti-choicers were.

The disconnect is troubling.

Something strange is going on. People don't seem to be using their critical thinking skills on this issue.

2. Kunich has not shown anything that he can deliver for his supporters except No Votes with

Republicans and Blue dogs and you expect people wanting progress made on Health Care or Climate change to be happy with him. If someone can explain to me what he has delivered besides his debateable principles I would be happy to apologize. Also Health Care reform is far from certain it passed the House which is good but nothing has passed the Senate. I am going to be very upset and disappointed if in final passage that Stupid Amendement is not either removed or reworded but I am going to try to focus my energy on contacting the White House and urging women's groups to speak out against this to make sure it doesn't survive conference. People have to chill out and realize this thing is far from over. I am sure there are those who will be happy if it blows up but I honestly can't say i will be one of them if if means that Congress will not have the will to fight for Health Care in the foreseeable future again. Grantcart said it best I am sure mistakes will be made in the bill that will have to be changed or amended, some people may be happy with it or it may work great for some and not for others that is the nature of the beast but we will have come one step further in our definiation of what healthcare should mean for this country and that is a good thing if it will no longer mean 42 million people go without coverage. You can keep on defending Kunich though.

3. There is a difference

Most DUers disagree with anti-choice Dems. Most DUers are not crazy about blue dogs and the DLC. However, there is a large slice of DU that thinks Dennis is one of the best people in politics. So when he does something that seems to be pretty stupid or unhelpful (not common) he is going to be attacked a bit harder than when a blue dog does something stupid or unhelpful (more common).

FWIW joining Repubs in voting against this bill doesn't piss me off, but his idea to choose Ron Paul as VP sure did.

because he voted to allow 44,000 people to die every year with no insurance
