Can this please be the LAST time we let anything get this watered-down?
Any other bill that lost as much as this one did going through the process couldn't be worth passing, no matter the subject.

Can we please fight for principle the REST of the way?

Is that too much to ask?

There's no other issues out there where half measures are of any value.

...from a marginal district in the South.

Be part of the solution.

4. We don't have to settle for this kind of shit on everything
And if we abandon the powerless on all close votes(as we sold out all women on this)we'll have no right to ask the powerless to vote for us.

7. No.
Americans like electing corporatists, and will keep packing Congress with 'em for the foreseeable future.

8. That's probably a vain hope
Unless the bribe money is taken out of politics, the special interests will ALWAYS be there, throwing money around.

And as long as there are people willing to TAKE that money, you're screwed.

10. In 1994 Sen. George Mitchell watered down the Clinton Health care plan
in a last ditch effort to pass something. "In August 1994, Democratic Senate Majority Leader George J. Mitchell introduced a compromise proposal that would have delayed requirements of employers until 2002, and exempted small businesses." from wikipedia

He failed even with delaying employer responsibility for 8 years.
