Sarah Palin Suggests Coin Conspiracy In Wisconsin Speech

Sarah Palin didn't allow press at her speech Friday at a Wisconsin Right to Life fundraising banquet, and attendees were barred from bringing cell phones, cameras, laptops, or recording devices of any kind. But Politico managed to get a few reporters in to hear the former Alaska governor again raise the specter of death panels and claim an anti-Christian conspiracy in the redesign of U.S. coins.

While Palin didn't use the phrase "death panels," she implied that rationed care would lead to elderly or disabled people being denied care to save money.

"What may they feel about an elderly person who doesn't have a whole lot of productive years left," Palin asked the audience of about 5,000. (Tickets were $30 each.) "In order to save government money, government health care has to be rationed... then this elderly person that perhaps could be seen as costing taxpayers to pay for a non-productive life? Do you think our elderly will be first in line for limited health care?"

Palin made the "death panel" charge explicitly in a Facebook post the following day. "We had been told there were no "death panels" in the bill either," she wrote. "But look closely at the provision mandating bureaucratic panels that will be calling the shots regarding who will receive government health care."

In Wisconsin, Palin also expressed fear over the moving of "In God We Trust" to the edge of American coins.

"Who calls a shot like that?" she demanded. "Who makes a decision like that?"

She added: "It's a disturbing trend."

11. You Liberals Just Want A Godless Country . . .
what kind of mess is this stuff Palin is talking? I think this woman is plain batty. What she is is un-American. She doesn't care for the freedoms of Aamericans. She doesn't care for what makes America great, which is the dynamism of it's people. She only wants the lily white America that was portayed of yester year. She wants to conserve the abusive American history that kept people in their places.

This moving it to the edge is just softening us up for the next phase.

10. The elderly already have government health care.

"In order to save government money, government health care has to be rationed... then this elderly person that perhaps could be seen as costing taxpayers to pay for a non-productive life? Do you think our elderly will be first in line for limited health care?"

Is she really this dense? The elderly already have government paid health care and that's not going to change.

She's making an argument against Medicare, whether she realizes it or not.

14. hey sarah -- the fault lies with every repub in the senate and all but 2 in the House and bush
Why? Because the placement of "In God We Trust" on the edge of the Presidential $1 Coin was mandated by act of Congress -- an act that passed the House with that language with only two repubs voting no and by unanimous consent in the Senate. The final version actually had more repub dissenters, but not because of the side of the coin issue and, in any event, was signed by chimpy.

Seeing as how it was written in 1892, I'd say her knowledge of American History is "slightly flawed" at best.

Guide to Presidential Dollar Coins
Following the signing of H.R. 2764 "The Consolidation Appropriations Act of 2008, the Presidential Dollar edge lettering will undergo changes for 2009. Specifically the law requires that the motto "In God We Trust" be placed on either the obverse or the reverse of the Presidential Dollar. For Presidential Dollars issued during 2007 and 2008, the motto appeared on the edge of the coin ... http://presidentialdollarguide.com/2009-presidential-dollar-edge-lettering/

for outing The Department of Coin Slogans. Who knew there was such an agency, operating in shadowy secrecy, with its commie-pinko-atheist-socialist agenda of depriving us of our constitutional right to have "In God We Trust" emblazoned on our coinage? Sarah, thats who knew. And I bet you guys won't, I bet you won't even thank her for it. But I'm gonna. I'm gonna thank her right now.

And I'm gonna ask if I can get some of that matanuska thunderfuck she's been smokin, too.

Who cares where the slogan is?

She expects people to take her seriously when she is spouting off completely nonsensical and irrelevant stuff like this when we have so many other serious issues facing us?

If I didn't know better I would swear this was a Borowitz Report piece.
