Obama takes the stage at Memorial Service and some of the crowd screams?

Not his fault, but I am sure there will be Freepers, tea baggers and other right wingers who will blame him for the screams.

Just so you know these were screams of adulation, not critical.

It was inappropriate but not his fault, we'll see if anyone says anything.

18. I am sure that it was uncomfortable for Obama.

When he first came down the steps a few people yelped. His entrance was very somber and did not draw this out. I was listening to MSNBC prior to Obama speaking and the talking heads were continuing to dissect the shooter and the terrorism theory. They were covering it like it was a ball game. I thought it was very rude to the families of the victims. The time could have been spent reading the obits of the victims but hey, that would require some ground work. Sideline speculation is free.

4. Such a contrast from Bush, when the troops had to be warned by their superior officers

to be on good behavior while Bush was present. Oh, and smile if you're in any photographs.

Despite the warnings, most of the troops looked pretty bleak in the staged photo ops with Bush.

19. When I heard the cheers at Barack and Michelle's appearance

I thought that it was strange that this was the opposite of what the repub talking heads were telling us. I have heard it said that the military resented serving under him, though it is not the same way I heard it for eight years when Clinton was president. They can't say that Obama was a Vietnam war protester (like Clinton) although they have tried.

As for me, I was thrilled to hear them applaud him in the manner that they did. I did not find it inappropriate just a way of them saying "Thank god you are president now. You have given us hope."

I admit I am an Obama supporter from way back (from early in 2004) and I watched "By the People/Barack Obama" for the second time last night so I am biased in my opinion.

decorum and respect for the dead. It ain't a Beatles concert or a political event.

keeping voices down, no cheering or laughter. It is a SOLEMN occasion, not a sporting event or party.

People are GRIEVING.

He comported himself as CiC, and it was cool that they were excited to see him despite the circumstances.

And it's especially nice when nobody orders them to behave a certain way. Or only allows "supportive" troops to be in the same area as the CIC.

With that said, I was a bit surprised to hear cheering at a memorial service. I am very glad that President & Mrs. Obama were there for our troops, though, and I'm happy that at least some of the soldiers were excited to see them.
