Kerry: End medical marijuana prosecution

MANCHESTER (AP) — At a campaign stop in Manchester yesterday, Democratic Presidential hopeful John Kerry told an audience of college students he opposes federal prosecutions in medical marijuana cases in states that have legalized the practice, pledging to reverse Bush administration policy on the issue.

More broadly, he said he wanted to wait for the completion of a study to see what other alternatives might be available to medical marijuana before deciding whether to legalize it in all states.

Asked whether he would repeal federal law that denies federal student loan assistance for individuals convicted of drug offenses, he said it would depend on the offense

“If the offense is use, yes,” he said. But “if the offense is selling, no.”

While meeting with workers at Page Belting in Concord, Kerry talked about the need to ensure a working wage for all people. He also called for better disclosure of executive pension plans

... and not treating certain chemical compounds with such hysteria and fear. The War on (Some) Drugs has to end, and we can start by not prosecuting terminally ill or crippled patients for smoking a friggin' joint. Go Kerry, go!

7. Kerry keeps coming out with one policy statement after another

yet he gets no attention whatsoever. I'm thinking that the only way he'd get noticed is if he posed nude in Playgirl at this point. Clark has basically rendered Kerry invisible. Kerry needs to get his butt back in NH and keep Clark from squeaking by him and taking second place. Dean is going to be one of the final two, period. Kerry stands a chance of being the other one of the final two, but not unless he prevents Clark from taking that slot.
