Bush's popularity and support has been waning slowly for months. Its logical to assume this will continue, and that the blip of the convention would eventually disappear. Our hop has to be that the decline continues through Labor Day, AND that Kerry can use this time to present himself as a viable and clear alternative.
That being said, we have GOT to stop all this rehashing of Vietnam, the National Guard, etc. The reason Bush is dropping is that people are unhappy TODAY, whether due to the Iraq situation, security, health care, jobs, the environment, etc. They don't care about what did or didn't happen to either candidate 30 years ago; they want to know what's going to happen tomorrow.
I was very disturbed when DNC wasted its time coming up with the "Favorite Son" video. Their new piece on Bush not acknowldging our problems in Iraq and health care is a good alternative, as is Kerry's ad on Bush's misleading helath care claims. But both groups need to stay focused; bouncing from subject to subject allows the media and the audience to forget what they've heard. As irresponsible as Bush's message is, you have to credit their team with keeping on track.
