Kerry gets endorsement of Quad City times in Iowa

A time for John Kerry

A funny thing about the Iowa caucuses: Candidates spend an inordinate amount of time trying to come across as ordinary guys in the coffee shops, grain elevators, at the factory gates and school gyms.

John Kerry just can’t cut it.

He’s not ordinary.

He’s extraordinary, in the nicest and most qualitative sense.

At the QUAD-CITY TIMES, before he parleyed with editorial board members, we took Kerry to a break room unannounced to talk with three of our co-workers who took a few minutes off the packaging insertion production line. In just minutes, he was speaking easily with them about hopes, dreams, troubles and disappointments and answering their questions. He handled the curve ball deftly and walked away talking about what he learned from them.

That was among the experiences that differentiated Kerry.

All the candidates we met spoke very well.

Kerry listens.

Sandnsea, this part struck me, also. Author did not mention that Terersa's native tongue is Portugese, I believe, even though she was raised in Mozambique, the daughter of a bush doctor. She has also led an extraordinary life.

I hope the secret endorsement this afternoon comes from Boswell. Kerry is really picking up steam in Iowa. It's definitely not over.

Its refreshing to see others beginning to see JK for what he truly is - the most qualified, profound, and diplomatic candidate who's ever run for president.

On that last note, I agree strongly.
I find John inspires confidence of the highest order- that there really is no gulf too wide to cross or mountain too high to climb.

Bush was definitive proof that on the job training doesn't CUT IT on the world stage today.

I think it still comes down to the media. Plus, I don't think most people want to admit they've been conned no matter what they discover.

He can hammer Bush. In every area. Already. If he is the nominee, we can look forward to the debates with glee. It's such a surety it even rhymes. He will look like the let's face it taller, smarter, generally cooler older brother first-born George never had to compete with. Bush will absolutely melt down. The pathos! The similarity in backgrounds (though Bush grew up much richer) will only highlight the enormous gulf in intelligence and demeanor, even grammar. A lot of swing voters don't know much about Kerry. I really believe that in the general election, the more they see of Kerry the more they will be ashamed not to vote for him.

23. Alec Baldwin on Charlie Rose last night said

that Dean will have to be groomed because he is nowhere near ready to be president, and that Gore went with Dean because of the money reality not that he agrees with Dean.

He also said that every Democratic pol, analyst and operative say the only candidate ready to be president on DAY ONE is John Kerry.

Sad that so many Democrats aren't willing to see the forest for a very loud tree being placed front and center by the corporate media.
