Kerry will not win the second debate.
He got lucky the first time, and Bush was obviously under the weather. It won't happen twice. Bush is still the same master debater he was before the first one, and nothing has changed that fact. Also, George will be infinitely more comfortable in the town hall format.

Kerry is going to get smoked.

So this Town Hall style debate should be awesome, even if Bush smirks and sweats and does that televangelist imitation thing that he does when he's lying, he is sure to win this style of debate as he is a master debater.

The Townhall format is dubya's forte. It's where he can speak to the people, and sound all folksy and sincere.

His team won't let him lose this one. he'll be well-prepped and in his element. George W. Bush is a Masterdebator.

Bush is always so comfortable in town hall settings. There's no way that Kerry will be able to match the quick wit that Bush has shown while getting spontaneous questions from the crowd. I've seen him many, many times during this campaign taking questions from the audience and they probably weren't all scripted. I'm really worried about this one.

25. No Loyalty Oathes
Bush is going to be hindered by the fact that for the last six months, he has had his Town Hall audiences screened before they were allowed to occupy the same room as His Lordship. Anyone who practices at an activity, and this holds true from political debating to bare-knuckle fighting, knows that if you get used to a comfort zone or a handicap, and that advantage is suddenly taken away from you, you are at a disadvantage.

31. The analysis, while tongue-in-cheek, is partly true
Bush won't go into the second debate the way he did the first debate. He approached the first debate the same way he approaches everything in life, cavalierly and carelessly. His advisers have surely impressed upon him the need to do some actual hard work in preparation for the second appearance.

Look for Bush to be sharper, more attentive, and more focused. I know, but don't laugh. He'll be at his populist nice-guy best, chummy and folksy, spouting off the clichés that people who don't know any better love to hear: Lower taxes, better jobs, a more robust economy, and above all, lower taxes.

As long as he avoids details, he'll come out all right, and the pundits will have to change their shorts before they go on air to verbally orgasm about what an improvement Stupidhead made over the first debate, not that he did so bad, really, in that one, which a lot of people think he won, you know, because he's just such a gosh darn popular war president.

61. Wrong!
As Bob Hebert wrote in the NYT today, W has one big problem that just won't go away... he's out of touch with reality.

He's been reading Rove's counter-factual, reality-denying, smoke-screen script for so long, he has come to believe it. The problem for him is that facts are stubborn things and people are beginning (finally) to see threough the hypocritical bullshit the Republicans have been spewing.

Thus, expect to see more of the same from W in the next debate - "stay the course" w/ tax cuts and dismantling of Medicare and social security. The econmomy (like Iraq!?) is getting better! Yeah, right! Getting better for Wall Street, the wealthy, and a few corporations maybe, but not for the 1M who lost jobs, or the millions more who lost their jobs and have taken jobs at half their old pay, and no health insurance. Only suckers will join Bush in this bogus "domestic" leap of faith, probably the same suckers who buy into his jingoistic, destructive, middle east policies. But this is all they have to rely on - repeated assertions that their failed and harmful policies will prevail becuase they represent their notion of the american way. Pretty desparate startegy that didn't work in debate #1 and won't work in debate #2 or #3.

77. No No, It was Mass Debater
He could debate the entire Dem party, on Sunday, with a communion chip in his mouth and an altar boy tied behind his back.

Oh yeah, and he would win because he's God's "Chosen One."

78. Bush will gain SYNERGY from the crowd ... when he starts laying it down
like he does on the stump, the crowd will ooooh and awwwwwwwww just like they do when he speaks with the fake-assed old-time hay bales that no one uses anymore except rubes who are trying to fool other rubes.

Blinky will break it down for us, spoon feed it and then ask God to bless us.
