Dean can say something nice about someone, yet not agree on other issues, and still think he's the better overall candidate.

Instead of attacking back, he said that he acknowledges that software jobs were going to India, but it was okay because he is going to create new jobs here in America. He stated as long as he is president, he will protect our software jobs.

I'm proud of Clark. He didn't attack back in an effort to dodge the flyer's quotes, he simply defined his statements, putting them BACK into context.

That's why I'm still proud of him, and ever more certain of his integrity AND electability.

18. Other jobs? What help is that for trained programmers?

This was a big gaffe. You don't expect people who have trained for a professional career like software programming to just drop all their training and suddenly become... veterinarians, for example. It doesn't work that way.

Clark should know better. The Army doesn't shift people from one specialty to the next randomly. Infantry offices stick with the Infantry specialty their whole career, except for designated cross-training, intended to make them better Infantry officers. The same with all the Army career specialties.

does it for us. There will always be American programmers, but the market will never be like it was before, unfortunately. We have to look forward to new technologies, and develop high tech jobs and industries across the board. I think this will help American programmers also.

sending jobs overseas, including programming jobs. He also wants to reward and give incentives to companies that are creating jobs here- Both of these initiatives will help programmers.

Job creation is great, but we have to have a priority to protect what is still here.

By the way, I don't accept that the jobs that are gone are gone for good. That's defeatism.

And it's pretty disingenuous of Dean to claim that his staff
is doing things without his knowledge or sanction.
Is that how he'll lead if he's prez? So out of the loop
he doesn't know about his staff's attack policies?

By that logic, if I greate a letter at work that says bad things about another business rival, my boss should know about it? Even if I don't say anything, I don't tell anyone, I just do it and send it out?

Its a weak arguement.


Now don't get me wrong I maybe a Dean supporter, but I'll be the first to say Dean has a bit of talking before thinking going on from time to time. That being said, I'll still defend him from arguements that fail to pass a simple think test. 8)

I think you sound quite sensible. That's all any of us can do. We can address the baseless allegations, and emplore our candidate to correct any issues which cause us some concern.

21. You haven't been in campaign politics

There are hundreds of thousands of volunteers going out doing tasks all across the country at this time of year. There is one state HQ in each state, and one national HQ. There's just too many people out there doing stuff to have direct supervision of all of them.

I ran around in the 80's doing this stuff. There are many situations that develop on a local level in a national campaign that are simply never communicate to the national HQ... ever. There's simply not enough ears in the National office to put to phones to hear them all.

I remember I had 18 hours notice that "the candidate" was coming in for a visit to the area with the full train of cameras, secret service, and everything else that goes with it. I got that call from the state HQ. I never heard boo from National. Getting 1000s to a site to watch the candidate give a speech, dressing up the route from the airport to the site and the site itself to make it appear the campaign had plastered the whole city with posters, etc. All that without ever talking to National.
