Personal observation after walking my precinct lately....
I now realize this is a stupid stereotype of mine and a mistake. You know all those yellow ribbons and American flags you see decorated in yards and on cars as stickers that say 'support our troops', etc.? I've always been under the impression that people who display such patriotism (I'm not one to display my emotions on my sleeve for all to see usually) are of the Republican mindset and most likely freeper types. What I've found out is that the people who display such patriotism are more than likely Democrats!!!! Many, many, MANY Democratic voters seem much more patriotic than the Republican voter homes I've seen. At least it's this way in my precinct.

Who would've ever known??? I'm so sorry I ever made that kind of conclusion.

1. And so you should be.
But I believe your repentence is sincere and I forgive you.

3. Here's the weird thing though - I've only seen 3 cars
with a political sticker and a yellow ribbon.

1 was a Bush supporter.

2 Kerry supporters (including me). BTW, my yellow ribbon was stolen a few days after I put it on - I think a Freeper must've stole it - they could never figure you can be a Kerry and troop supporter (like get the troops the hell out).

I see dozens every day of the yellow ribbons. I figure some are relations to troops, most are probably just citizens. I hope it isn't a blind fad and I hope the displayers are for the most part those who display want to get those troops out ASAP!

I'm getting another one - and if it's stolen again - then I'll get another! Hey on some things I can be as stubborn as AWOL.

I put mine on for troops like Michael (Mari333's stepson) and for the troopers I sent stuff through from SoCalDem's list. And for nephews of ladies I work with, and for the troops I don't know who I send cookie packages to!

4. Patriotism And Liberalism Are Not Mutually Exclusive...
Let's never forget it...

I love this country and it's ideals as much any freeper....

5. I do too and maybe I should get a yellow ribbon
to put on my car right next to my K/E sticker (the first thing I've ever put on my car!)

6. The rear of my car has a K-E sticker, an American flag,
and a yellow ribbon. (Also Morrison and Sadun for Congress stickers).

I will NOT let them own the flag or our troops.

Wesley Clark taught me that.

7. Good observation, holyrollerdem!
My mother-in-law wears a sweater with a U.S. flag on it, she has a flag decal on her car, and she's also been part of a group that regularly protests the war on Friday afternoons.

She's foursquare for Kerry. There's no accounting for appearances!
