ABC News defends Halliburton no-bid contract - DU them!

ABC News just announced that Edwards attack on Halliburton and the no-bid contract of $7 billion was unfounded. They said it was a case of "only bid contract" because Halliburton was the only company that could of done the job in the time required. They cited the "non partisan General Accounting Office" for this data?

We need to tear this apart and start hammering their editorial desk. This is B.S. 5% of the reconstruction funds have been spent to date, but it was such an emergency that only HALLIBURTON could provide the services? No one else knows how to build a school, a road, a water treatment facility. They're the only ones in the world that can manage such a feat! It's a wonder the civilized world has not collapsed in the absence of Halliburton contracting.

Help me gather the facts here and attack ABC's irresponsible reporting.

One of Australia's largest post-war contracts in Iraq has collapsed with the partners embroiled in a multimillion-dollar legal battle, a major audit by the Pentagon and allegations of corruption in the awarding of contracts.

Morris Corporation, a Queensland catering company that has delivered meals to armed forces in hot spots from Somalia to Cambodia, was dumped last year by giant US military contractor Halliburton, losing a $100 million contract to supply meals to US troops in Iraq.

Morris Corporation won the contract in June 2003 in partnership with a Kuwaiti company, KCPC. The deal was praised by the Howard Government at the time. The contract was to feed 18,000 US troops at three camp sites in northern Iraq. But the American company cancelled the deal just six weeks later, claiming that Morris and its Kuwaiti partner had failed to meet their obligations.

Now an insider involved in the deal alleges that the joint venture was approached by a Halliburton employee seeking kickbacks worth up to $3 million during the contract negotiations.
