4. I'd be surprised if Edwards did poorly...

..he's the hometown boy, and I'll certainly admit that he's a likable fellow with fairly strong Democratic positions. I am rather surprised at Clark's showing in this though.

with any type of momentum, he will be a challenger to Dean in the South, and may derail Clark completely. Clark needs to be the Southern candidate if he has any hopes of winning the nomination.

14. Edwards is a fine man, one I would be proud to get behind

as a nominee. I was inspired by his speech tonight at the Linn county D. He was great.

North Caroline cannot be taken as representative of "the south" given that it is John Edwards' home state.

What you mean is "Think Clark's going to do so well in the North Caroline while Edwards is still in the race? Think again..."

I am rather sure that if you took a poll of Arkansas right now Clark would be doing similarly well (though possibly not quite as well because he doesn't have as much pre-existing in-state name recognition of a Senator previously elected by a state).

Now, if there was a poll conducted in Arkansas and Clark had 40% of the vote, and Edwards had 5% of the vote, would you say that Edwards having 5% had nothing to do with Clark being from Arkansas? Would you think that Edwards wasn't going to play well in the south?

After all, LA is 'just next door.'

If so, your understanding of reality is vastly different from mine.

It would be in Clark's best interests to have Edwards knocked-out of the race as soon as possible; they are, to some extent, targeting similar blocs of voters. If Edwards shocks people in Iowa, hmm..
