"WASHINGTON (AP) -- Contradicting the main argument for a war that has cost more than 1,000 American lives, the top U.S. arms inspector said Wednesday he found no evidence that Iraq produced any weapons of mass destruction after 1991. He also concluded that Saddam Hussein's capabilities to develop such weapon had dimmed - not grown - during a dozen years of sanctions before last year's U.S. invasion.
Contrary to prewar statements by President Bush and top administration officials, Saddam did not have chemical and biological stockpiles when the war began and his nuclear capabilities were deteriorating, not advancing, said Charles Duelfer, head of the Iraq Survey Group...."
The inspector's report could boost Kerry's contention that Bush rushed to war based on faulty intelligence and that United Nations sanctions and U.N. weapons inspectors should have been given more time
http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_IRAQ_WEAPONS?SITE=CATOR&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULTHere is the thing: George Bush Got it so wrong on Iraq's capabilities (Imminence, capacity, existencs of WMD, links to Al Queda specifically), that it borders on being impeachable...based on Clinton's impeachment)
Now the question is: Do you make Bush's utter inmptenace or lyng the central issue of the campaign in the remaining weeks.
I think one thing You have to say ans day repeatedly is a) the president should apologize for believing in faulty date that have cost us 37,000 injuries, 1,000 deaths, $200 Billion and the viillifaction of much of western Euroipe in the war on terrorism.
I think it also should be Kerry's message that No mr. President I did not see the all the evidence that you saw. I saw the evidence that your people gave us. I am not sure we can trust them now... and I really an nt sure the American people can trust you.
Thoughts: takeoff the gloves or let the press do it and remain "presidential"?
