Questions for Friday -- Are they screened...not screened, or WHAT ??

Just what is going to be the deal with these questions?

Are they going to know the questions in advance? ... How is that going to work ?

I don't like it at all if Bush knows the questions. That would be a farce, not a debate.

I keep hearing different things. Does anybody know for sure?

...he's the moderator for next weeks debate in Arizona. The debate THIS friday is in St. Louis, MO at Washington University. I've been asked by an attendee if I could come up with a few questions, but I've no idea. "Boxers or Briefs?"

Nah. Actually, I think I've got one. "Over the course of your lifetime, in what ways have you sought to actively engage those whose views have been differed markedly from your own?"

During the previous debate, John Kerry touched on the issue of fourteen US Military bases allegedly being built in Iraq. What is the status of these bases, and how does this impact our relationship with the Iraqi people, particularly their perception as to whether or not we are an occupying force? And specifically, does the United States have long term designs on Iraq, including an extended military presence there?

If the topic is domestic issues, hit them with this:

The Republican Platform calls for a Human Life Amendment that would define life with rights under the 14th amendment as beginning at conception. If this were made the law of the land, it would not only mean the criminalization of all abortions, but also the criminalization of In Vitro Fertilization and the criminalization of the birth control pill and other popular methods of contraception. Please explain your party's stance on the Human Life Amendment and whether or not you feel the birth control pill should become a controlled substance.

I don't believe that the candidates will have seen the questions. Then again, I didn't believe that they'd lie to get us involved in "a land war in asia."

I still don't get who is going to know what.

Is Gibson going to go around in the audience and randomly select questions before the debate starts? Then he is going to appoint who can ask a question and have a duplicate copy of it so he can interrupt if it differs?

Or, is this audience selected already with questions being reviewed, and they will be notified?

Or, is Gibson going to ask the audiences questions?

Why is it being reported that the Bush campaign has said the questions have to be pre-approved? What does that mean?

What good would it do them to make an issue of it if the moderator was the one to approve the questions?

I'm just as confused as where I started. I bet I'm not the only one either that is concerned Bush may know the questions.

but then I thought back to the questions in the first debate.

Were any of them not *completely* obvious? There were no tricks, surprises or gotchas. They were the first dozen questions you'd think of if you were going into a foreign policy debate. He had to have been prepped on them. Plus, he's the effing President of the United States.

And it didn't help.
